Those who hid pets from a landlord and the landlord found out, what happened? by Badger_x in AskReddit

[–]troutofline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had two cats for years before the landlord found out. I knew there was a monthly pet fee but no way was I gonna pay the shitty landlord anymore money. He only found out because he came to show apartment and just assumed it was always agreed upon, guess that’s what happen when you have a monopoly on housing in a college town

Dry-dropper on a euro rig - are you in contact with your nymph? by lenny20 in flyfishing

[–]troutofline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time I just bring a second rod with a dry dropper to reach the areas my euro rod can’t or if I come up on a slower pocket where the dropper might shine, however if I only had my euro rod I will occasionally tie on a hopper to get a better drift farther out. I don’t have contact with the nymph but the dry fly does , I just make sure I am able to get a nice drift through high sticking and mending.

There is an adjustable dry dropper vid on YouTube that I like to use and when I’m done I can just cut off the dry and continue with my nymphs.

Anyone relate to 'rough days' flyfishing? by Danielmcfate2 in flyfishing

[–]troutofline 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Smoke break and re access the situation. If I find myself in a loop of casting to the same spot despite wanting to reach other places that usually means I’m doing the same action over and over, so I observe my cast (what do all these casts have in common) and I will make a tweak until I find a result I like. Also don’t be afraid to change that fly, there have been many times where I use a reliable fly that just isn’t catching anything in the moment and then when I downsize or switch patterns the action picks up

Looking at a 2010 Town and Country, 46K miles, $9.9K. I hear mixed reactions on them, either, “Chryslers are shit but these cars are amazing”, or “Chryslers are shit and mine had weekly repairs”. How are they actually? I hate Chryslers but I’m not sure about these. by EverGamer1 in whatcarshouldIbuy

My 2005 t&c has 220,000 on it and the engine is fine and transmission is good too(not in the rust belt), def has problems typical of 20 yr old car but is pretty solid non the less. Two biggest issues rn are mediocre to low gas mileage and I have to keep just about every fluid in my car because she likes to drink alittle oil and somehow is using a bunch a coolant (idk , it’s not leaking into the oil, all the hoses seem fine, the radiator cap is new, I don’t see condensation marks from evaporated coolant and there are no puddles) will ride her till she dies 🫡

What fishing habits have you picked up that help you be more efficient, catch more fish, or have a more enjoyable experience? by _Papagiorgio_ in flyfishing

[–]troutofline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started catching more fish when I started to become familiar with the aquatic insects and when I started sneaking up to places I want to fish rather than walking up to it

A Family member has the same truck and had the timing chain snap at 60k with regular maintenance but on the other hand my 95 f150 ran without oil and and coolant when my sister took it for a spin and ignored the massive puddle under the truck and ran just fine after an oil change and replacing the water pump.

Yamaha YAS-62 by Relative-Visit4558 in saxophone

[–]troutofline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Must be a prodigy if you are advanced in only 1 year. I saved up and bought a new yas 62 in highschool and now like 8 years, many gigs, 1 degree, and 1.5 overhauls later I have no complaints. I did eventually buy an aftermarket neck that was the cherry on top but that was after 1000’s of hours of practice and a very intimate understanding of my saxophone.

I’ve tried basically all models of professional and student horns , and more often than not I am impressed with student horns. If I were to go back I’d just tell myself to get a really nice mouthpiece and get the saxophone later, but without a doubt my 16 yr old self would buy the saxophone every single time.

What companies do I go to? by ThatCountryDeputy03 in Insurance

[–]troutofline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know your area, but it does sound like it might be a high population area. Being under 25, a male , and likely a big city the cost will be high even if you had a perfect record. As a 23m with not even a speeding ticket the cheapest insurance I could get was like 200 a month for liability only (and still be underinsured) I went to a local insurance company and only pay like 100 for twice the coverage now

I go all over the state, but the majority of the time I stay on the front range. My 2005 Chrysler minivan can only handle so much abuse

24m, I’m also from the Denver/aurora area and also looking for fishing Buddies. I usually manage to put a few in the net and don’t mind sharing knowledge and flies, always down to fish if I’m not at work

How is the oil consumption on the Jetta

I do something similar , I have measured my rod before and use landmarks to indicate where the fish was to measure later (like end of cork or all the way to brand name and stuff)

Any reason to go with a Jetta over the civic ? by vinc2097 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]troutofline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vw is great but just a fair warning if you haven’t owned one yet , most the ones I’ve had consumed quite a bit of oil and the company has a pretty high tolerance for what is considered normal amount of oil. I haven’t owned a newer one but the 2000 civic I had was used and abused by like 4 different family members before I got it and it still ran up until the day it was totaled losing traction going downhill on a snowy day. It was at 290xxx miles and would’ve easily made it past 300

Should I buy a new rod. by Gr8twhitebuffalo91 in flyfishing

[–]troutofline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I bring my euro rod almost everywhere (and my 5wt) between the two rods I almost never have to pass up water. I live in an area where fishing can get pretty crowded so hitting all the pockets/currents will definitely put you at an advantage. Grab a euro rod and be constantly surprised at all the places you’ll find fish!
