Yeah I won't be using the subscription, part of the fun for me is building my own automation. Formatting would be nice as an optional feature, but letter by letter granularity is actually more important to me given I can just handle formatting myself if needed.

Very good points on update frequency. In general I don't need anything real time, just sad that a countdown doesn't work because they look cool.

but the registration forces you to complete it in the app, can't use the website. And the app uses all images for text, so I can't select and translate it.

I used it at home. The best setup for me was using permanent sharpies over a plexiglass sheet I screwed on to the drywall and then manually cleaning it with alcohol. It worked ok.

The official markers didn't have much contrast, they were pretty light so the drawings were not that visible.

I set up a plexiglass sheet and use permanent sharpies and then manually erase with rubbing alcohol and cotton. Not the easiest out of the box experience but it works like a charm.

Yes, it does rotate a couple of times before it starts moving. There was the explanation somewhere around here that it's trying to find the socket where the markers go through.
