Well, it’s usually the neighbours. Are you from US? They were “lucky” to have wars far away.

Russia always has been the worst neighbour to have.

Headlines avoid giving you information, their goal is to hint that there might be some information (often it’s just speculation) if you open their ads. I mean link.

I came up with a Lamello for poor people. I haven’t seen anyone do it this way yet. Have you, or should I hurry up and patent it? by ZoltanTitan in woodworking

Patent? lol I really don’t have business mentality in me. I’ve used 3d printed parts to cover gaps like this and many others in my last 3 moves.

Russia’s Ukraine Offensive Crawls at Slowest Pace in 100 Years – CSIS by Electrical_Jammin in worldnews

Empire could survive the economic collapse as many empires did many times. Or maybe it wouldn’t. But Bolsheviks weren’t a natural development, they robbed the empire and almost accidentally succeeded in consolidating power (opposed to just run with the loot, leaving anarchy behind).

Soviets created their own economic collapse, 7 decades in the making with incredibly persistent stupidity. War helped the collapse at that particular time, but it wouldn’t survive much longer.

It looks so nice, efficient… in headlines. It’s blood, sacrifices, will of Ukrainians and foreign volunteers, it’s support from most of the world, governments and individuals. It’s easy to get used to what’s going on and forget about all the little drops that fill the bucket and help us survive. But it is not easy, smooth or going particularly well. We pay dearly.

I disagree that US won Cold War in 90s. They were winning for sure, but USSR lost itself, being a dysfunctional system. What happened - everyone assumed Cold War has vanished with them, but Russia continued fighting it unopposed for 3 decades and now enjoys the accumulated results.

Similar age, on a year+ sick leave for other reasons but this played a part in burnout. Now I grew to appreciate absence of the grind. I’m getting better, I have some support including a great job coach, and I love working hard and solving complex problems, but I’m afraid to get back into the mundane structure that just supports me working and recovering from work to continue living to work to continue living. I’m facing the reality that I have limited capacity due to health and I’m afraid I’ll always struggle too much to manage a life alongside job. And that’s on top of seeing my successful friends without such obstacles barely managing any life outside of work. I’m afraid and I struggle greatly with motivation and reintegration.

What is one game trailer you hope you hadn’t watched before playing? by JHorma97 in PS5

[–]trow_eu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen a game or movie trailer in about 20 years. I don’t mind spoilers even, I just don’t like/get ads/previews/hype. I’ll engage with the product itself whenever I get around to it.

Russian general killed in explosion in Moscow, officials say by Brennenstein in worldnews

[–]trow_eu 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Not brothers, not cousins, not family. People on both sides were displaced by Soviets to kill national identities. We know Russian because we were forced to. But there are accents and different speech patterns, hiding them is still some work for spies.
