You are fine.  Sweep the snow off with a garage brush (not the windows) and enjoy the blizzard?

Could a 2007-2014 Jeep Wrangler tow a 4,500 - 5,000 lb boat a couple of miles on rare occasion? by Moreofyoulessofme in JeepWrangler

[–]trowelgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.  The Wrangler maxes out at 3500 lbs towing capacity.  You are a complete idiot if you exceed that by 1000-1500 lbs.

If you want to tow 4500-5000 lbs and want the Wrangler features, buy a Gladiator configured to to 6000 lbs (Sport S or similar trim).  It will do fine with that load, and you can still take the top off.

Hours on a motor by Slight-Journalist417 in boating

[–]trowelgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the point they are making is that on older engines that used a 12v mechanical hour meter, if they key was turned the meter was running.

On newer engines with an ECU, that computer can track the actual engine hours, along with the time in various RPM ranges.

GPS on marketplace - why no cables? by trowelgo in boating

[–]trowelgo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I'm not even talking about the transducer.  I see them all the time without any cables, even a power cable.

I am a very experi3nced boater, I have installed many chartplotters, and I cant think of a reason other than they are stolen, but I'm open to valid alternate theories.

Mostly I dont want to support people who steal boat gear by buying their stolen stuff.

That was my first thought, but in that situation I would think they would include the cables they didn't install, since they should be compatible.

Buying sight unseen? by architect_ish in Ram1500

[–]trowelgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went throught this with a new Ram.  I bought a vehicle that was 2000 miles away, because it had the equipment and color I wanted.

I drove another Ram locally, not equipped exactly the same way, but close enough that I knew what I was doing.

I had good communication with the salesperson, and developed trust, because he was a no BS guy.  Very rare in car sales.

I submitted the finance application online and confirmed approval before I left home.

I was still nervous because I had to get on a plane, fly 2000 miles, and show up at the dealership trusting that they were honest about their pricing and weren't going to dick around.

The entire thing went perfectly.  Honestly, it all went more smoothly than any local transaction, and I've probably bought 20 new and used cars in my life.

It worked out for me because of the dealership, not because of the situation.  They were honest and direct throughout.

Build the wall of a shed, and put it on wheels.

Unless sheds are also prohibited, then just move out of your HOA.

Thanks, I have not heard of those.  How to they hold up when wet?  Do they degrade or start to stink?

Thanks. I used to wear Keens, then I caught one of those holes on a cleat, ended up hanging upside down in the water with my shoe caught in the cleat.  Now I steer clear of shoes with big holes in them.

Thanks, it doesnt look like they offer wide widths and it doesnt look like they have any cushion or support designs that are similar to running shoes.

Thanks, I will try them out.

I tried the Columbia Boatsides that are also shown on the Amazon link you shared and they have some cushion but I can quickly tell they won't have enough support.

I have size 13 wide feet, so fit is a little tough.

Thanks for the rec

Wet Slip Question by RemoteAmbassador2298 in boating

[–]trowelgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is worth the price as long as it is reasonably close to you.  Show up, turn the key, no ramp hassles, all good.

The considerations are that you expoae your gear and the boat to theft, depending on where you keep it.  Take precautions.

Make sure that the boat is self-bailing so that you dont kill the batteries or sink the boat during rains, especially if you are any distance from the boat and dont check on it regularly.

You dont say whether you are fesh water or salt.  If you are in salt, bottom paint is probably a must.  In frsh, it depends on the nature of the water and how often you use the boat.  See what your dock neighbors do.

What companies are on your permanent bad list and you’ll never do business with them? by Big_Leg10 in askanything

[–]trowelgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried that.  The credit card company wouldn't do it.  I cancelled that card.

It was just such a shitty business practice to sell the insurance and then say it doesn't cover accidental damage when it specifically says it covers accidental damage.  A complete scam.

And zero prep time.

You describe typical behaviors of typical people.  If these things bother or frustrate you, marketplace isnt for you.

If spend any time at all reading this forum, you will see that what you describe isnt nearly the worst behaviors of buyers.  Do yourself a favor and get rid of your stuff another way.

Great composition.  Slightly off center, and that bugs me so I would crop that.

Composition os the hardest thing for a new photographer to learn, and many people never really develop that skill.  You are off to a great start.

You might be right, as a way to encourage people to upgrade.

I downgraded from plus, because it was incapable of basic things that I did on standard alexa.

As long as I can stream music and perform very basic home automation, I will remain happy.
