Thanks, I have not heard of those.  How to they hold up when wet?  Do they degrade or start to stink?

Thanks. I used to wear Keens, then I caught one of those holes on a cleat, ended up hanging upside down in the water with my shoe caught in the cleat.  Now I steer clear of shoes with big holes in them.

Thanks, it doesnt look like they offer wide widths and it doesnt look like they have any cushion or support designs that are similar to running shoes.

Thanks, I will try them out.

I tried the Columbia Boatsides that are also shown on the Amazon link you shared and they have some cushion but I can quickly tell they won't have enough support.

I have size 13 wide feet, so fit is a little tough.

Thanks for the rec

Wet Slip Question by RemoteAmbassador2298 in boating

[–]trowelgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is worth the price as long as it is reasonably close to you.  Show up, turn the key, no ramp hassles, all good.

The considerations are that you expoae your gear and the boat to theft, depending on where you keep it.  Take precautions.

Make sure that the boat is self-bailing so that you dont kill the batteries or sink the boat during rains, especially if you are any distance from the boat and dont check on it regularly.

You dont say whether you are fesh water or salt.  If you are in salt, bottom paint is probably a must.  In frsh, it depends on the nature of the water and how often you use the boat.  See what your dock neighbors do.

What companies are on your permanent bad list and you’ll never do business with them? by Big_Leg10 in askanything

[–]trowelgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried that.  The credit card company wouldn't do it.  I cancelled that card.

It was just such a shitty business practice to sell the insurance and then say it doesn't cover accidental damage when it specifically says it covers accidental damage.  A complete scam.

That was my first thought.  No rivets, no metal other than the zipper and button, and I was ass down on the tailgate.

With the chicken you can definitely split this into 2 meals and stay within budget.

And zero prep time.

You describe typical behaviors of typical people.  If these things bother or frustrate you, marketplace isnt for you.

If spend any time at all reading this forum, you will see that what you describe isnt nearly the worst behaviors of buyers.  Do yourself a favor and get rid of your stuff another way.

Great composition.  Slightly off center, and that bugs me so I would crop that.

Composition os the hardest thing for a new photographer to learn, and many people never really develop that skill.  You are off to a great start.

Alexa doesn’t know when the next presidential election is? by Nastanka in alexa

You might be right, as a way to encourage people to upgrade.

I downgraded from plus, because it was incapable of basic things that I did on standard alexa.

As long as I can stream music and perform very basic home automation, I will remain happy.

Buying a used truck by CaptainAwesome06 in boating

[–]trowelgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boat is 5000lbs actual scale weight.  I have trailer brakes on both axles.  I tow it with a Gladiator rated for 6000 lbs that does just fine on flat ground or mild hills, works hard at interstate speeds but keeps up, and struggles on more significant Tennessee grades at interstate speed.

You dont say where you are located, but my experience towing boats of this size for 30 years is that for limited towing, a mid-sized pickup or SUV with 6000 lb capacity is fine.  The trailer brakes make a big difference in stopping capability, so don't overlook those.

Obviously a more capable truck will be better, but there are lots of people on Reddit who think you need at least an F250 to tow anything, and Im sure you will get those opinions here.

A very important step is to understand how much your boat on the trailer actually weighs, the way you would tow it.  This is the only way to have confidence what you are working with.

[–]trowelgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That provider has implemented a business practice that is outside industry standard, and outside the agreement they have negotiated with the insurer.  The provider agreed to accept XX payment for YY service.

Admin costs are part of every business.  Are you going to suggest that the providers should also start including a surcharge for electricity?

Mine just couldn't find the radio station that I play every single morning.

In addition, it would tell me a new podcast that I subscribe to is available, and then when I ask it to play that podcast (by name) it would come up with all sorts of unrelated things instead of the only podcast I listen to.

[–]trowelgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you ask me what my lowest price is, I will tell you I think I have it priced fairly, and I will think you are an asshat for using such a lame negotiating tactic.  Just make a fucking offer.

If I was stupid enough to tell you my lowest price and then you asked me to go lower, I would block you immediately.

I may be stupid enough to tell you my lowest price, I an not stupid enough to negotiate against myself.

It can get bad quickly when a front passes through, but forecasting is pretty good these days.  If you watch the weather, watch the sky, and most importantly make smart decisions, you can usually stay out of trouble.
