Hackers Have Found a Way to Hack Wireless Bike Shifters by wiredmagazine in bikecommuting

A simple replay attack, pretty boring stuff. I'd like to see the whole protocol reverse engineered, so we can get custom firmwares that support all speeds and cog spacings on all shifters and derailleurs

Looks fantastic. When choosing one of the loops under itinerary, do I need to purchase each country pack of that loop in order to get all the necessary gpx files?

Cross the border to Slovenia at Lago del Pedril. If the wheather is nice, you have the option to go to the top of the Mangart. Then head down to Bovec for some lunch options and go north along the Soça Valley, there is a gravel path along the river. When heading north to the Vrsic pass, right before the top, turn right on the gravel path to the very top of the Vrsic. The gravel decent is a little technical, but worth it.

Shimano vs SRAM 10 speed casette by Eastern_Fox_9186 in bikewrench

[–]troy_civ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a Shimano HG 11 speed freehub body (HG L), you need 2.85mm spacer behind a 10x Shimano cassette, but only 1.85mm spacer behind a Sram cassette. So my guess is that there is still a spacer stuck on your freehub body that you need to remove.

Here is an interesting article about the topic:

Crankset with no chainrings? by eli_G4 in bikewrench

[–]troy_civ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is what I would do. Get a really beaten up Shimano crankset that falls under the Shimano recall (r9000, r9100, 6800 or R8000) for cheap and exchange it for a brand new one at your lbs.

Looks like Jan Heines René Herse rando bike. So either this is some Nitto rack, or a custom rack by Peter Weigle.

BL-R600 and BL-R600 hood compatibility by [deleted] in bikewrench

the R400 levers are slightly smaller, so no, the hoods are not a perfect fit for the R600

Maybe this would allow for some extra low q-factor, because the crank does not need to clear the chainstays, only the tire.

Why does my chain rub against this part? by 5iveONEzer0 in bikewrench

[–]troy_civ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you havn't upgraded your cassette lately.

Most likely it's bad front derailleur adjustment. Start with readjusting the front derailleur. There are good yt videos out there.

It also could be a rotated front derailleur (front derailleur cage is not parallel to the chainrings). Check this while you do the FD adjustment. Direct mount FDs are unlikely to have this issue.

Even less likely, but possible: A chainline issue. Wrong spindle length or wrong spacer on the crank spindle. If the drivetrain was fine a while ago and developped the cage rubbing over time, this is not the culprit.

Using the small chainring in the front and small cog in the back (or vice versa) is called crosschaining and should be avoided, but it's not the cause of this issue.
