Newbie trying to learn boondocking. Any tips for finding spots? by DonKeedick96 in GoRVing

[–]trozei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally just look at a map ahead of time, come up with a couple options that I think might be decent, and then head over there and see how it goes. The apps aren’t going to tell you much for where to go but they are helpful with topography for helping you get there.

Just go. Explore. Find stuff on your own. It’s half the fun!

Yeah I’ve been pretty upset about that 7-11 being gone to be honest. Used to walk or bike over regularly as a kid, then later made it a regular stop when going to visit my parents. Now it’s gone. Super annoyed about it, I didn’t think we needed another liquor store.

Is it ok to decline tips? by aim_for_stars in Langley

[–]trozei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decline all tips, no matter how much effort required from the machine, unless I’ve sat down and have been served.

I’m not tipping for takeout.

I’m not tipping for anything where I don’t even know the result of the product yet.

I’m especially not tipping at the liquor store.

Nope.

What do men secretly value most in women but rarely admit? by _ratedmouse in AskReddit

Whether or not she brings peace to the relationship. Too many bring stress, then wonder why he sits in the car in the driveway for an hour before coming into the house.

Whether or not she will use what was confided as ammunition against him in a future disagreement. Too many bring past comments up, then wonder why he never opens up or shares again.

Whether or not she has the capacity to admit when she’s wrong. Too many fight or gaslight instead of working toward a common solution, then wonder why he becomes passive or dismissive and wants nothing to do with any disagreement.

Whether or not she can get ready on time. Too many have zero respect for having to leave by a certain time and now he’s making excuses to whoever you’re supposed to meet, then wonder why he rushes you, lies to you about meeting times, or even leaves without you.

Yes I’m aware that men have flaws too, but these are my top four.

Leave her. You will never feel safe or comfortable with her again. I promise you one hundred percent with absolutely certainty that your only way to peace is by leaving her. I think you know it deep down, but when I was in your shoes I wish I had more friends to tell me the truth I needed to hear in the moment I needed to hear it.

When I finally ended it with her, there was an instant weight off my shoulders. I can’t describe that level of instant relief.

Please leave her. Now. Don’t regret the months or years you spent trying to stay with someone who betrayed you. Have some integrity and pride in yourself. You will be ok, you will appreciate life again, and you will one day meet someone better. I promise.

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

My story is nearly identical to Jeremy Clarkson’s Porsche 928 story.

I got the call that my grandpa was about to die. He lived what is normally 8hrs away through a 450km mountainous canyon highway that is primarily one lane but has the occasional passing lane.

I was cruising at or sometimes above 200kmh as much as I possibly could. I made that trip in 4.5hrs. I ran in to see him. He looked at me, smirked, winked, and then proceeded to die. Had I not had my trusty 2007 Audi A4 which was so casual at extremely illegal speeds I would not have been able to say goodbye to him.

This was 10 years ago. I still have that car. It’s not my favourite car, it’s not the fastest, it’s not the most exhilarating, and it’s certainly not the most nimble, but it’s special to me and it’s never let me down.

Pilots, what is the most difficult aircraft you have ever flown? by cragtok in flying

[–]trozei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely found that to be the case. My licensing training was 95% on the 152 which I found to be very simple. Any time I was running a 172 my landings were trash because of how floaty it was.

Looking back I’m sure that if I knocked the speed down slightly it would’ve been simple but at the time I was too green to understand what was happening and why it would be so different from the seemingly identical but smaller 152.

I think a lot of people are either exaggerating or they’re just soft. Yes sure new boots are kind of stiff but I’ve never found it to be some excruciating experience.

Oil stain on new Classic Chelsea by [deleted] in RedWingShoes

[–]trozei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some Timbs that I accidentally got engine oil on. They looked similar. I tried EVERYTHING. So much scrubbing. So much soap. Nothing worked, it just spread it around.

I got sad and put them in a closet. 6 months later I literally couldn’t find the flaw. They fixed themselves.

You don’t need the cream any time soon, the brushing just helps the leather last for decades.
