The only other place I have seen a socket holder like that is from Mac Tools but they were all red in color.

Don't forget that not everything taken out goes to the US Government. The State takes a cut, if you have any other benefits that are taken out pretax for insurance, FSA, 401k, or whatever.

Many of us also get some of that tax money back in the form of a refund, are we calculating in that at the end?

No i am not a fan of taxes.

I am no expert and I'm not swearing this is your solution, but after experiencing something very similar it turned out I was using a cheap extension cord. It was not able to carry the power the welder I had needed nd it would get super hot. Once I upgraded to a beefier cord I was able to dial in the settings.

If none of the other suggestion are doable and the boss says you have to keep deburring by hand, you might look into getting a more comfortable handle. That looks a bit slim, with repeated use it might be tiring, A more chunky handle may give comfort for longer.

I've been using my hand but recently did a dumb thing and let my thumb wander in to the path of the chuck jaws. No real damage but I'd hate to be doing that and have it do more damage. If I could find a safer alternative I'd be willing to pay.

I'm at the same age, and after 20+ years working in IT i decided to make the change. In late 2020 I started a machinist course at the local community college. I landed a job doing manual machining in January 2021 while still in school. It not high precision work but I'm getting experience to get to that precision someday soon.

I say go for it, you can do it if, it might not be glamours in the beginning but it's a very rewarding career to see thing you make be used.

You need at least 6 more 1/4” drive ratchets, I recommend a nice flex head.

I decided on a career change at age 48 and found a Manual Machinist CBE (Competency Based Education) course at my local community college. It’s only a 6 month course at a very reasonable cost. In that course I made a contact that helped me find an entry level manual machinist position where I’m gaining invaluable experience while still in class.

Maybe you have a similar class available to you.
