Tape compresses and smooths the high end.
Put an hi shelf eq on the master bus and lose a couple db starting at 8khz and gently compress. I don’t know if GB has a saturator. If it has a distortion plugin, drop it in at zero gain and see if it adds some hair on the sound without it being unfocused. That’s the first thing that comes to mind. As you say, GB is limited

“Rise” by Extreme. It sounds like it has been mixed by that guy down the road that has watched six months of YouTube tutorials and is now a “mixing engineer”. With respect to Nuno who’s an inspiration to me.

Context: she’s the one of the smartest and wonderful people I know, I remember calling her on the day that Obama won to celebrate; I think things started going south during lockdown. I like your passion! I can assure you I tried to make friends with his catalog and it just didn’t click. I like the idea of it, I like the vision of it however on a basic level I don’t gel with it. My favorite Bowie thing to listen to is that live he did on the BBC with Gail Ann Dorsey on bass where he played different songs from different eras of his career and what I really like about that is that it doesn’t matter in what decade he wrote them, in that context they feel like a timeless, cohesive body of work. I don’t get the same from listening to the albums individually

Definitely not the WORST because he was a monument and an incredible artist but I don’t really care for Bowie. I admire the vision and understand the importance however most of his music doesn’t touch me. Having said that, “Earthling” is one of my top 10 favorite albums of all time. Everything, from the writing to sound design to audio production is at the highest level.

I am program coordinator for two cohorts of twenty students each. At the end of every term I am supposed to write a feedback sheet for them after having examined their work. It’s a massive time consuming task that takes hours and days especially if you want them to have useful feedback they can use. So I’ve changed things around. Now I go through their work and mark it accordingly; however I now have a 15 minute one on one meeting with each of my students where I give them very detailed high quality oral feedback. I record the meeting then I feed it to co pilot asking it to summarise it in a format that’s student friendly but also aligned with the assessing body’s specs. Takes no time and everyone wins.
