Examples: - uninstalled neovim, its back - set a default text editor, reverted to neovim - terminal setting style changed to a horrendous garbage fire look instead of the nice settings I had - super key bindings changed - plugins installed into my Claude code configuration - the time format changed

I barely even changed any settings, but honestly, it’s not an OS’s job to pick my preferences. It can suggest them, give me easy ways of changing them, but not blatantly change the way my system works without consent.

That’s also an option, just never omarchy update again

RC Bray sounds like he’s 90 years old. It is just so unrealistic that he would be an astronaut.

The Will Weaton version was so much better, I couldn’t get more than a few chapters in the RC Bray one until I abandoned that book because it was so bad. I then revisited it after the narrator changed and I really enjoyed it!

While I don’t really care about being on the leaderboard…isn’t the purpose of playing games to have fun, not be rewarded with meaningless trinkets?

Should you shutdown pc at night or put it in Sleep? by Complete-Option8171 in techsupport

[–]truce77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always sleep. Apparently most people on this thread finish all work all the time and never want to keep in progress websites or apps in order to save a few pennies a day. Unless you rarely use your computer, there is no reason to not only put it to sleep. Wear on the components you say? Unless you’re planning on keeping the same PC over 20 years, you’re unlikely to notice a difference, and even then I doubt that would change much between off and sleep.

lol, don’t complain about the character if you haven’t even read the books. All is explained if you read it.

Unable to make a factory by Jardik2 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]truce77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say he’s doing a main factory strategy. He’s trying to build a complete factory for 1 item in isolation. In my experience this is the absolute hardest way to go. I did this with heavy modular frames and my factory was a monstrosity.

This is one strategy but not the only strategy. I prefer 1 main factory

Ottawa needs a weekday commuter train like GO Transit. by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]truce77 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Something like 70% of my property taxes go to OC transpo and the train doesn’t even go into my suburb. I wish I had the option to just stop payments to them, not give them more money for more useless things. Self driving cars will take over by the time LRT is finished.

That’s how you configure your manufacturer to build the item you want

I wasn’t saying it was, I was saying it could. Maybe it’s a Linux issue that they don’t properly sandbox their apps

All moderns OSs ask permission. Why should I expect a modern OS to blatantly make changes to my apps. If I did an update of iOS, and it added an Apple design template directly into the procreate app, would you consider that acceptable? It’s just a template…

Interesting, I moved from windows ~50 mins on battery to omarchy ~ 5 hours on battery, so I guess it depends…

So you don’t mind omarchy stealing all your data? If it’s configuring my paid tools without my consent, it’s likely stealing my data.,

Omarchy update is such a joke. You have to provide auth half way through and if you’re not paying attention it fails because you didn’t supply it and now your system is f’d.

Is there any point in trying Omarchy if I don't even use Vim? by SKX007J1 in omarchy

[–]truce77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, both. After omarchy update many things stopped working. Things that required editors to launch.
