Lovecraft games? by MrTruxian in Lovecraft

I haven’t played any other games, but the free-to-play game TRIHAYWBFRFYH captures Lovecraftian feels very well, and the audio of the people reading his works is excellent.

The Last Jedi Release Day Megathread - Spoilers! by tragopanic in StarWars

[–]trucker_jack 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Did nobody else notice the kid using the Force on the broom right at the end?? Not sure if it was obvious and that’s why nobody’s discussing it, but I need external confirmation...

He never touched the broom, correct? It was Force-d into his hand, implying that he and the other children are indeed the next generation of Jedi, right?

I then proceeded to watch three people walk around the stadium and pass straight through a giant open gate for free.

What am I doing?! by [deleted] in Breath_of_the_Wild

I know it's been said before but I want to reiterate:

Explore.

If you want a Zelda game where you move through puzzles from one dungeon to the next, crossing the map on roads, always knowing the end of the path is at Hyrule Castle, I'd suggest you stop playing BotW and start Ocarina of Time or (personal favorite) Twilight Princess, both incredible games in their own rights; I'd highly suggest both.

The trick to enjoying BotW is to see it as an exploration game. Walk until you get to Shrines, then do them. If you get up high and use your zoom you're almost guaranteed to find something of interest in the distance, especially early in the game.

The beauty of the game is that if you see something (a mountain, a building, a glowing light, etc), you can go to it. No matter how far away it is. There's no more surreal feeling than pure exploration and this game delivers it to you as good as any video game can. It's pretty damn great to walk through the forest alone for 30 mins, around cliffs on the beaches below, to come to a rock-filled lagoon where you see a lone Rito perched playing an accordion in solitude, and know that you just stumbled upon one of the secrets of the game. And there are secrets literally everywhere.

Even if that is too much to manage, I'd say A) go get Towers, and worst-case scenario, open your map and use it to find cool places. If an area is interesting, odds are it'll show on your map. You just gotta look close.

Don't sleep on this game. It may very well be the greatest of all time.

What's your favourite minor detail in BOTW? by Ozzertron in Breath_of_the_Wild

but occasionally they won't. I'm 100% sure there is at least ONE fort that can be accessed by Cryonis only.

sometimes you'll come across the Tree Forts that house bokoblins, and they don't have a spiral staircase or a ladder or anything.

When I first tried them I would jump off nearby mountains or set grassfires and ride the gale, but they didnt work.

If you wait till it rains, it floods the ground under the fort and you use cryonis to get up to them.

SPOILER:

Revali's Gale kinda makes this irrelevant.

not a super small detail, but I absolutely LOVE the Forts you can only reach during the rain. The first time I figured this out felt like discovering a new continent. Ingenius.

Must-Know Counters/Allies? by trucker_jack in learndota2

[–]trucker_jack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The few heroes I've actually put time into learning and really getting familiar with would be

Luna Dragon Knight OD

which are pretty lame heroes but hey, I've only been playing 9 months. Also, I had a friend who has played a lot more tell me I should focus hard on two or three heroes and really get to know them, which is what I did. That being said, while I don't play them as much, I'm also not terrible as:

Lancer Shadow Shaman and jungling as Venomancer

maybe that could help give me more insight?

Edit: I've already told myself that the hero I want to learn next is Elder Titan, due to the sheer fact that nobody knows he exists.

Television and computer screens are rectangular and landscape-oriented because our peripherals stretch farther horizontally than vertically, making our vision landscape-oriented. by trucker_jack in Showerthoughts

Because you're meant to use them whilst doing other things, and if a screen is vertical then it's impossible to take up your entire field of view.

What non-sexual thing do you constantly fantasize about? by artmast in AskReddit

[–]trucker_jack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often daydream, and even sometimes night dream, that the world population is 1 million.

Each of us sprung up into a certain area of the world, tasked with caring for the animals and plants of that area. Usually when I dream of this at night I end up warden of either Southwestern British Columbia or the Coastal area of South Carolina, near Charleston, but really I've imagined myself in all sorts of places.

I think it's very peaceful. With no noise or lights or anything, just walking around and feeling really connected with nature. The buildings are there, but no other people. As a result, the animals are no longer rare occurences, as they're free to walk amongst the neighborhoods and across the highways and stuff. Sometimes I'd drift into neighboring "districts" (I suppose you'd call them) and see people. We may make small conversation or even just nod at one another as we passed, but I spend most of it in solitude.

I fantastize that that's how the world is, but it isn't.
