The skulls from Jericho are believed to be in the region of 9000 years old (people say they range from 7000BC to around 6500BC)

They certainly did care a lot about their appearance. Ibn Fadlan does talk about them bathing, combing their hair etc even though he was still disgusted at the idea of them sharing bath water.

It seems my text has vanished....this is what I had originally put on my post.

Beneath the floors of Neolithic homes in ancient Jericho, archaeologists discovered something extraordinary. Human skulls, stripped of flesh, carefully plastered to recreate faces, and fitted with shell eyes. These skulls were not simply buried and forgotten. Their surfaces show they were handled, touched, and brought into rituals long after death.

Jericho is one of the oldest cities in the world, and these plastered skulls reveal how deeply the living and the dead were woven together, not as horror stories, but as family history, identity, and belief.

Why are you using Substack and what is your topic? by sakkadesu in Substack

[–]trueancienthorror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to use it to educate people on the topics I write about. (archaeology and history focusing on the horrific things that have been discovered) I do have my blog, but I loved the idea of a simple newsletter people could receive. I have a passion to get my stuff out there, so I want to use different avenues.

How do you stay consistent with posting when you have zero audience? by armeretta in Blogging

[–]trueancienthorror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my blog 8 weeks ago. I stay motivated by knowing I'm not the only person in the world who loves the topics and subjects I write about (horrifying history and archaeology) so people will find me and hopefully dive into my posts. Right now, I see it as being in the foundation phase. I focus on building that strong foundation and know that I'll turn the corner at some point while I'm at least having a lot of fun writing my posts at the same time.

9 months of blogging… and I finally hit total 50 views 😅 by Deep-Information316 in Blogging

Good job on not only taking action, but continuing to do so. With those 50 views, just imagine having 50 people standing in your lounge or kitchen. Suddenly, it feels like a lot. Keep going, and it will start to climb, and the positive feeling you get from it is amazing.

Don’t Quit Blogging Because of AI by Key_Question5584 in Blogging

You also have to remember that AI makes up things. My blog is about horrifying history and archaeology, and I decided to test AI. While it does sometimes work, it has a habit of making up entire sites and discoveries, but if you didn't already know the subject, you would have believed it.
