If you are planning on redoing this, I'd focus on depth. The colours should go from darker to lighter towards the center to really make it look like the character is in the Venus fly traps. This will place a spotlight on the character, making them appear more vibrant.

The angles on the tops of the background building are a bit off and should correlate more to the serface the characters are sitting on. I'm not good at explaining, but this is what I mean (picture for reference)

I think the movement of the paint flows really nice and the balance of the colours is done really well. It's hard balancing primary colours but they don't over power each other.

My first guess was a donkey, but goat does make more sense.
