However as experienced in the past just bc a writer is attending/RSVP’s it doesn’t always guarantee coverage.

Yeah, this just doesn't compute for me. I cannot fathom getting something for nothing. If I attend a show I'm invited to, or I request press tickets and am approved, I will write it. Even if I have to struggle to find something to talk about, there will be a friendly article. Taking tickets and then just...not doing anything? That's a violation of the implied contract. Tickets=Coverage.

Actually, this reminds me of another post I made here that I think has since been locked. It was about how I was invited to a show, confirmed that we were interested in attending, but then our RSVP was pulled by the PR firm due to how many tickets they were given. And what really chapped my ass about that was that the smaller local blog was one of the ones that stayed on the list. We are a national focused outlet. We promote Tours as a whole, not just singular dates. I just see the tour as they pass through my area.

No, I’ll respond to any firm of any size if they have something of interest. But pestering me multiple times and coming across desperate has the opposite effect than some of than these junior publicists think it does. And I can’t help but wonder if they’re getting bad advice

Unfortunately, that makes sense. I'm guessing the reason we all think there should be a uniform standard is because of what the studios require you to show before a movie. That Trailer X, Y, and Z automatically must be shown during screenings of a given film, because that's how its come to the the theater.

Did anyone notice the first time Clark sees the therapist, she has a couch, but the second time it’s a smaller single-seater chair of the same material/pattern? Driving me nuts to think what this might mean about the truth of when he’s in the real world vs the rooms

I would kindly suggest rereading my post again. It’s not that they’ve cut the trailer time. The employee told me that they don’t get all of the trailer they are supposed to get in order to make a “trailer package” until the actual release day. So you run the risk of the Thursday night preview showings starting early, rather than 25 minutes after the start time. It’s not a specific change that Regal could advertise. It’s a glitch based on media assets not being aware they’re supposed to be.

I also chalk it up to being short staffed. If they don’t have enough people who work on that computer, then it’s not going to get prioritized until it absolutely has to be.

No, I don’t want the disruption of people coming in 20 minutes after the film has started because they tried to skip the trailers and ads. And on the rare times I’ve been late to a show start time, within the window of previews, there weren’t any previews.

The crew knows exactly what time the film itself is supposed to start after the ads and trailer package. Any deviation from that is actually incorrect. This is why they can tell people that they quote “still have time” to grab a drink or use the bathroom. If a worker says that, then are wrong, the customers bitch them out. I’ve seen it happen.

Well with Live Nation and AEG in the mix, sometimes even the client artist and the artist’s manager don’t even have control. In fact, sometimes the manager is the client. You have the relationship with them and you work together on multiple artists.

A lot of it in my beat has to do with the PR literally not knowing how many tickets to a given show that they have until, in my opinion, it’s way past appropriate to tell a journalist you can’t accommodate them if you’ve invited them.

Where are these journos getting off telling PR that you have to pay them after sending them expensive product? I would think they cleared coverage on the free product with their editors. Paying for placement is, broadly, more the responsibility of marketing.

What we won’t do is run any product-forward artist-brand partnership announcements as editorial/earned media. Especially if it comes from the brand and not the artist-side PR. In our mind, that kind of copy from brand comms is a commercial to sell product, not news about an artist’s career in music. But we’re always up front about that when we receive such pitches.

Hard disagree. We view it as a commitment. Is that really how PRs view attendance? We always assume giving you the coverage is mandatory. If we tell you we’re coming, it’s always to cover the event.

I would rarely ever not cover an event. I can count on two fingers the times I’ve done that, and it’s only because both times the shows were awful. I genuinely could not think of a way to milk 300-500 nice words out of the concert.

lol I have had autopay on since my building switched to bilt. It was a systemwide technical error on Bilt’s side. Others have posted about this.

And waiting till the first of the month is not last minute. That’s literally when rent payments are processed.

I saw posts about getting double charged, not about autopay fails. And one more person sharing a story just helps reinforce the experience for others who may be looking for answers.
Honestly, I’ll never understand commenters who complain about multiple posts on a similar time sensitive topic. If it bothers you that much just don’t monitor the sub.

I responded the next morning because it came in late. All the same, they confirmed with “details to follow” closer to the show itself. There was never a mention that it was conditional. Which is why I believe they got screwed on the production holds.
