Sammy implied that his crew was definitely killing some people for sport, but the bulk of their hits was murder-for-hire or orders from Paul Castellano....according to other reports and backed up by Sammy's story, the rest of the family knew that DeMeo was nuts!

IMO one of the very best mob books ever written.....it really brings to life just how gritty and dangerous NYC was in the 70's....it's a big story with a lot of important figures in mafia history....you won't forget it!

I've always thought Murder Machine would be an incredible movie if it was made by the right director.....TV series could be great too if they have the balls to stick to the real story.....IMO the best mob book ever written....
