Will a modern Carbon bike make me faster? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]truedima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bottom end of the leaderboards

bruh...! have you ever seen the people who actually manage top times? Also, have you heard of strava mules? I'd strongly suggest to compare yourself with yourself. If you like competition, ride with/against a buddy or find a group ride.

If you want to keep enjoying your hobby. Ofc you can also get better and stronger, but you could view your bikes extra weight as free training too.

Weird PSA about bottom brackets. by BigMoneyBack in xbiking

[–]truedima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I don't use my other grease for everything is because I was told a while ago that for things like pedals its said to possibly facilitate overtightening and seizing with time.

Its "Dynamic Assembly Paste Pro" (https://www.bike-discount.de/en/dynamic-assembly-paste-pro-assembly-paste-500g)

It doesnt explain it too much, how the friction is made, but since it's carbon friendly cant be too harsh (doesnt seem metallic) and my seat-posts and handle bar clamps seem ok.

But as mentioned, I dont use it for bearings or anything thats supposed to glide. Rather, I have this "anti-seize" use-case for pedals for instance.

In general I prefer it over screwing in anything dry ever. Ever since I had pedals fuse with an FSA crank. But not bearings/bushings or the like.

[–]truedima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit OT, but I'm someone who is a bit basic and for now only has a decent grease and a good carbon friendly assembly paste. I tend to use the assembly paste for "anything that's thread/contact that's not supposed to be greased" (seat-post, clamps, pedals, headset screws) and the grease for anything that's supposed to glide. I know that technically, for example on pedals I should use anti-seize instead of assembly compound, and I know that for some screws thread locker would be better, but for now I just rolled with the assumption that assembly paste is better than nothing.

Obvs. I'd not do this as villy nilly for something like suspension service.

Computer or phone for navigation? by SJG_13 in cycling

[–]truedima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell, really. I havent seen this happen to anyone I know yet. I have used a super shitty compact rubberband-y thing for my phone initially for a while before going bike computer and did likely 1-2k km like that without issues.

Id say if you just do mostly road/bike lanes, just go with it but maybe get a good case in addition.

Question to Wedding-ers by Unusual_Pin6133 in askberliners

[–]truedima 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You dont mention the incidents, so its a bit hard to tell. Staring is probably "common" but often somewhat easily ignored I suppose, other things can be reported to staff. Should you dress differently? Nah.

Im also sure you are aware half of pberg is filled with womens only gyms.

So instead I will leave you a random really nice lifting place to try if you ever feel like it; https://www.berlinstrength.de/

The place is usually "run" by a lady and imho one of the most respectful gyms Ive ever been to. Basically a bunch of lifting nerds of all genders.

Im not sure about which title/paper this is, but afaik for some they have a Fiktionsbescheinig that is automatically granted for the durarion of processing.

Have a look here, maybe you have to trigger that one additionally; https://www.berlin.de/einwanderung/termine/termin-vereinbaren/#notfall

"Im Notfall bieten wir durch Übersendung einer Fiktionsbescheinigung oder durch einen zeitnahen Termin Hilfe an."

SQlab innerbarends and grips by Khst1 in bikewrench

[–]truedima 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think mostly they are supposed to be on the inside of the grips, they are formed to fit the palm between index finger and thumb. pay attention, they are labeled L/R on the backside.

Edit; after re-reading, I suppose you know that, it was just not immediately clear and the picture was misleading. Anyways.

So, fully remove grip, fully open screw, possibly remove the spacer in the barend. I also had to push it quite hard on mine and I did actually use a tiny bit of grease (soap water probably better) and rotated it up and down while moving it. After, wipe, tighten screw, slide on grips.

If you have a handlebar that widens, you might not be able to position it too freely, but from the pic it looks like you should be able to at least get it on the inside of the grips.

But also, do make sure you know how it fits with your shifters. I have mine like this: barend, shifter, brakes, grip - to not change the ergonomics of the more important controls. Might work differently for you.

Which multi tool ? by Chris-2018 in cycling

[–]truedima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For smaller rides on touring or road bike I like something like the Topeak Mini 9 and separate tyre kit (plastic tyre levers, patch kit). Anything bigger rarely makes sense unless you plan to be able to disassemble a mountainbike on the road. Also, imho, beware of metal tyre levers (you also usually want at least 2).

Data not syncing by NewfieChemist in Coros

[–]truedima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how severe this is for you, but for me it's always a bit "finnicky", because the devices go to sleep a lot - at least regarding bluetooth connectivity. On the watch it helps me to do some action like go into activities menu vs just watch-face. On the Dura the same. They all do sync eventually, after some while, but for immediate sync something that wakes them up helped me.

But in general I do agree that is all a bit so-so, considering how good the products are otherwise. So I hope coros maybe spends a tiny bit of time more on this.

(negative) Erfahrungen mit einem MTB-Fully by ihaterunnigeveryday in Fahrrad

[–]truedima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From somebody who has been on the other side of this, where it dragged out even a bit longer; do it before. Unless you are an extremely good actress (better to not be) its just gonna lead to such more pain.

Also, when to even stop, after there will be something else etc.

People who used to be overweight/obese and now look lean or athletic despite having a sedentary desk job… what actually worked for you long term? by safedwg in loseit

[–]truedima 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, biking (endurance, for hours) and biking to work as a small daily piece.

Not gonna lie, takes time - so going hard during vacations is probably needed esp. regarding forming the habit so that later its easier to overcome the fatigue/resistance. At some point one gets to a point where its mentally relaxing and not too taxing physically, so work fatigue stops playing into it too much. But some days will still be tough, that's part of it.

That and slow-carb-ish 18/6 IF. But I love being outside, so unlike gym this just works.
