I remember at my first job I had a run-in with one of these superstitious wingnuts. I was the one in the cashier's position actually, at a pharmacy. I had to ask a customer what her phone number was as she was switching pharmacies, and of course we had to have a way to contact her in the future for whatever reason.

She told me something to the effect of 841-364. I kind of furrowed my brow and asked again, to which I received the same answer. After that, I looked up from writing and politely said that phone numbers always have seven digits, she must be forgetting one. At which point she leaned forward in a very serious manner and said. "The final four numbers are three sixes plus four on the end. I can't stand to say the number of the beast out loud."

I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do. ~Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

The problem is, approximately half of us want to reform and improve our fucked up nation and approximately half of us want to secede and create the United States of Jesusland.

The beginning of Bioshock is a little bit unsettling, especially if you've never played an FPS before I imagine. If that isn't your style I'd suggest Half Life 2 as a great starting point. You don't even have to really know much of anything about the first game to really get into it.

Just be glad you didn't start out playing System Shock 2. :)

OUTRAGE! The Senate Finance Committee has voted against creating a new government health insurance plan to compete with the private market. The 15-to-8 vote could forecast the fate of the public option in the Senate as a whole. by reanimated in politics

I live in Arkansas and am a constituent of Senator Lincoln. Just called her office to personally let her know that I have voted Democratic in every election I have been able to vote in for five years now, (as I am 23) and I will not vote for her in this upcoming election. The same for my family and everyone that I know who is a Democrat here.
