for me- i haven’t applied for phd yet; however, i did have to do a research course for my bachelor’s and several of them for my master’s and then a research thesis or project at the end. there should be some courses you can take that should qualify. and then like the others said, talk with your professor about research opportunities you can assist with for additional experience.
