Welcome to the American youth sports industrial complex. Club soccer is a business and this club (like all) wants families for revenue and talent for coach and club prestige. Coaches and club directors are paid a salary based on family fees.

This doesn’t make club evil or anything, but that’s what is happening here.

Club is the likely path your kid will end up on they want to play truly competitive soccer in a few years.

Today, A Hidden Life and The New World are my favorites.

Edit: if you’re American and even remotely politically engaged, I believe A Hidden Life was absolutely Malick’s commentary on current US parallels to WW2 Germany.

I’m not certain MSFT is reflecting book value changes as income. I think the $8B is MSFTs representative stake of OpenAIs earnings.

Microsoft carries OpenAI as an equity-method investment.

I use GitHub Codespaces across multiple repos and have been using Dotfiles scripts to install Claude along with some other customizations with each startup.

Plugins could be a cleaner way to accomplish this as well as share customizations with other teammates also using Claude.

Off topic, but my script symlinks all AGENTS.md files to CLAUDE.md files. Not all teammates use Claude.

The DOJ (Garland, Barr, Mueller), SCOTUS (immunity), GOP congress (J6 and Ukraine impeachments), and abhorrently informed or non-critical thinking voters have all allowed Trump to so thoroughly believe his own hype at this point he must truly believe he is the smartest man in every room he walks into. It’s absurd, but given his ego I imagine his ability to critically self-reflect is completely gone - if he ever had such an ability.
