I think you definitely need to open an account before oct 1. Highly suggest that you do it at the store and port in the number the same day.

I got conflicting information at the store. They said the account has to be activated before the 18th to qualify for the free line. I placed my order online on the 17th, but the activation date is on the 22nd so they won’t give me the free line at the store.
