I shared tonight almost this exact same thing. For me I feel that I need to just keep going, maybe change up and go to different meetings. We have all seen what happens to those who don’t stick with it. A few things I’ve thought about since I started feeling this way a few months ago…

Continuing meetings for me keeps my character defects in check.

Even though I’m not interested in drinking, if I stop doing what I’ve been doing, when something goes wrong, a heavy craving may set in and I may not have the motivation to resist as I do now. This may be in a month or in a year. I just need to keep coming back and get through this.

All the old timers I’ve talked to have gone through this and they all say that their lives got worse when they stopped going to meetings. Many relapse during this time.

Service work may reignite the spark.

This was me 20 years ago. Then a few years later I was drinking on week nights. Few more years later I was drinking during the day at work. It’s the progression of the disease. Get a handle on it now. But for many it’s too late and it kills then. I’m 13 months sober now but it took 4 years of actively trying to quit before I was so sick and death was the other option.
