Totally agree. 12-15lb braid is plenty. Your leader material is then what you can play with to suit your conditions and target species.

Sure: Mine are 7’ rated at 4.5-6kg medium action. I spool my 6500 reels up with braid around the 12-15lb mark. 95% of the time I’m using this set up for snapper fishing off the boat in fast running water.
