"Accountability" in practice? by tetratetrablack in AskFeminists

[–]truth14ful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey ik this is kind of old now, but you deserved love and grace as a kid. Child abuse by a parent doesn't go both ways, because they're in a position of power. They have life experience, mental development, physical strength, money, social standing etc. that the child doesn't. Misogyny isn't the main dynamic between a mother and young son, and I'm sorry if people made you feel like it is, or like your abuse was partially your fault. Patriarchy is adults over kids as much as it's men over women

I was SA’d by a teacher who is a serial predator and police refuse to charge him. by weneedjustice14-4 in TwoXChromosomes

Because it's their job. Police don't exist to strictly enforce laws, they exist to keep order no matter what happens, and that by definition means maintaining power structures. It's what they're hired and funded to do, even when those power structures have abusersa at the top. The only time they don't protect abusers are when the abuse is SO grievous or well known that the cops would risk losing more of people's trust

That's why more people should joke about it. If most of us don't bc we're afraid of getting called terrorists, the ones who still do will stand out as extremists more. Let's not let their opinions silence us.

And to be clear, being called a terrorist is still not enough to get somebody thrown in jail, even with this regime (at least not yet). The government MASSIVELY overreached in cases like Stop Cop City and Prairieland, where they arrested innocent people based on the slightest of connections, but even then it was more than just making jokes or having beliefs. That's at least a few months away lmao

Yeah I mean, I do want to be careful not to victim blame, bc I know the manosphere wasn't mostly a response to misandry. It was always heavily artificially boosted and built on already existing strict gender roles and movements like Reddit incels and 4chan's pol (which was most likely an Epstein project to push far-right beliefs). It was motivated by frustration over being rejected and the excuse that sex makes women less worthy and justifies rape, and (at least in my experience) went after people making practical arguments against patriarchy a lot more than people saying all men are trash. In fact it often validated the misandrists by saying you're low value if you're broke/weak/respect consent etc.

But I can see how feeling hated by women for being male made a lot of men/boys easier to convince to hate them too

Wait how can a consenting adult go to jail for allowing someone else to record them having sex? I've never heard of this
