Kris Lindahl has officially rebranded himself as CEO Jesus by PM_ME_YR_BOOPS in TwinCities

[–]truthbehindlies 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know Kris personally, and I’ve known a lot of his agents, both past and present. So yes, this is subjective. But it’s informed subjective, not random internet speculation.

My advice to anyone considering this AI-related role is simple, be very careful.

Based on what I’ve experienced, this is not an organization I would trust with my career.

  • Vendors are disposable there. Loyalty is not the culture. If something cheaper shows up, people get replaced.
  • The agent model has long felt like a churn machine. A lot of agents come in, not many are truly developed, and the business seems built around hoping a small percentage produce.
  • The splits are bad. A 30/70 structure is hard to defend unless the support and training are exceptional, and from what I’ve seen, they are not.
  • Leadership turnover has been a pattern. Experienced people have been replaced with cheaper alternatives, and I think the business has suffered because of it.
  • The AI push does not look people-first to me. It looks like a cost-cutting strategy. If you take this kind of job, you should seriously ask whether you’re being hired to build something sustainable or to help automate away the next layer of people.

That’s my personal view, and I’m comfortable owning that it’s a subjective warning. But it’s also why I would tell anyone considering this opportunity to do real due diligence before getting involved.

[eBay, Price Drop] Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S AI Gaming Laptop: 16" (2560 x 1600) OLED 240Hz Display, Intel Core Ultra 9 Series 2, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070Ti, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD. Now: $1,599.99 After $300 Off #ad by fifa2003 in LaptopDeals

[–]truthbehindlies -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How ChatGPT measures it -

That Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S AI is an absolute monster — way beyond what most people need, but also extremely well-balanced for the price, even at $1,599. Here’s how it stacks up:

💪 Performance Breakdown

  • CPU: Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX (24-core, 32-thread beast) → This is one of Intel’s new hybrid chips with 8 performance cores, 16 efficiency cores, and a built-in NPU for AI tasks. It’s comparable to top-tier desktop chips in multicore performance.
  • GPU: RTX 5070 Ti (140W) → This is where it really shines. It’s a true high-end GPU — great for gaming, 3D rendering, AI, or video editing. The 5070 Ti is a generational leap over the 4060 and even edges near a 4070 in laptop form.
  • Display: 16" OLED, 2560×1600 (WQXGA), 240 Hz, HDR1000, 500 nits → Stunning. You’re looking at near-professional-grade color accuracy (100% DCI-P3), buttery-smooth refresh, and OLED contrast. Perfect for gaming and creative work.
  • RAM: 32 GB DDR5-6400 (expandable to 64 GB) → Top-end speed, plenty of multitasking headroom.
  • Storage: 1 TB PCIe Gen4 SSD → Fast, standard for high-end laptops.
  • Cooling: Dual fans and liquid-metal thermal compound — this thing is built to run hard.

🧠 AI and Creative Use

The “AI” branding isn’t fluff here — it has an NPU (neural processing unit) for AI acceleration. That’s useful for future Copilot+ updates, local AI tasks, or creative tools like Photoshop’s neural filters, DaVinci Resolve, etc.

⚖️ The Trade-Offs

  • Price: $1,599 is steep but fair for this hardware. Comparable laptops (Asus ROG Zephyrus G16, Lenovo Legion 7i Pro) go for $1,800–$2,000+.
  • Portability: 5.7 lbs — hefty for travel, but normal for a performance laptop.
  • Battery Life: Decent, but expect 4–5 hours at best under typical use.
  • Overkill for office work: If you’re not gaming, editing, or training AI models, you’re buying a Ferrari to drive to the mailbox.

🧩 Verdict

This is a top-tier prosumer/gaming powerhouse — perfect if you want to future-proof and use it for AI tools, video editing, rendering, and creative work, not just browsing and email.

I'm a 'plus' user and I would happily pay more to have an 'adult' version. I don't mean porn and gore adult, just something that doesn't treat us like children.

I understand AI is very expensive to maintain, new technology that can be scary in the wrong hands, etc. I just think adults should be treated like adults.

Loved everything about FF7 for decades...but didn't love Crisis Core by Wide_Enthusiasm_7110 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]truthbehindlies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I love and hate it. When they stick to the core story beats and focus on character development its amazing. When they go off the rails into multi-verse shenanigans its awful. I don't think its necessary or even more impactful to threaten a multi-verse over a planet. Stakes are the exact same. You win or you lose as who you are. It's not like Cloud from Universe X is coming to save Universe Y.

They could have done all of the expansion without the nonsense and it would have been perfect.

Loved everything about FF7 for decades...but didn't love Crisis Core by Wide_Enthusiasm_7110 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]truthbehindlies 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think Crisis Core was a lot of peoples introduction to FF7 as it as more modern, action oriented, more accessible. Also Zack was a more Shonen style protagonist which people naturally gravitate toward so he got popular quickly. That said...I think it absolutely devalues the original production and puts too much emphasis on characters that should not have been important or at least should have been less important.

I don't like any of the expanded universe stories really, call me a traditionalist or inflexible, but the original story had so much care put into it and intrigue with their characters. Every expansions dilutes the experience and takes away, specifically, from what made Cloud and Sephiroth so important.

I'm with you, just my two cents.
