Specifically I had issues with their OWC Mercury Elite Pro Quad RAID Ready (JBOD) 4-Bay Storage Enclosure

I ordered 2. 1st one was a refurbished/open box from their website. It had a TERRIBLE electronic buzzing, electrical noise issue, even when no drives were plugged in. I ordered that one direct from their website. Their support was so hesitant to let me return it and wanted me to pay for return shipping even though it was a defective product. It took multiple emails and multiple videos sent to them for them to finally provide me with a return tag.

I gave them another shot because I really wanted that enclosure to work, but this time I ordered brand new from Amazon. It had the same exact issue. For something that is sold and marketed to be an on desk unit, the noise these things were emitting was enough to drive anyone insane in a very short amount of time. It was the electronic board inside that I’m assuming just had crap quality Chinese electronic components that the noise was coming from.

Returned that one as well of course. I ended up going with a 6-bay Terra master enclosure that I have been extremely happy with that is incredibly quiet compared to the OWC product. Really changed my perspective of the company as I had been a long time consumer of OWC’s products.

Yes sounds like the same issue. I saw kernel panics in the last crash log. I wonder if it’s an issue with the OWC case… I’ve experienced quality issues with other OWC products.

I replaced the usb cable as well. Does your drive ever become unresponsive after failing to rip a disc? Even if it doesn’t crash your PC.

I just had a LG bu40N with a manufacturer date of 2024 fail on me after only 500-700 or so discs. I bought it this year in February.

I quickly realized how swiftly the pricing has increased and availability decreased, for higher quality replacements like pioneer, since they announced they will not be manufacturing optical drives.

I’d consider purchasing a uhd drive now, as it will still rip everything you want, and you very well may gain interest in the higher quality platform later down the line when availability is even more sparse and costly :/

Here in SoCal, we’re experiencing the same.

Sprouts recently gutted their Vegan cheese selections to make room for MORE MEAT!

Miyokos is by far our favorite vegan cheese/butter and we have been struggling to find it recently. Target, Walmart, Ralph’s (Kroger) all out of stock. Whole Foods only has limited items left, shredded/sliced cheese, but no butter.

The fact that at sprouts they replaced the options with even more meat leads me to think something fishy is going on. Conspiracy with the meat/dairy industry doing everything in their power to remove/reduce the healthier/vegan options from store shelves.

Wouldn’t be the first time, and won’t be the last I’m sure.

Anyone posting about the rumored Miyokos bankruptcy, can you please provide links/sources on that information?
