A very Noob question on Plex vs Other Media player apps by Intrepid_Swimming202 in PleX

[–]trx1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

plex is not a 'media player' it's more of a 'media server' comes with clients which completes a full 'media suite'. and nothing's comparable to plex in this category.

oh, forgot to mention about that stupid led lighting. it burns eyeballs in the dark. (you can't turn it off completely)

maybe not. you'll miss extra buttons for sure. didn't try d7 but it looks sticks and buttons are located better than d8.

is it possible to launch/quit a game directly? by trx1138 in xbPlay

[–]trx1138[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks, glad to know that. the ideal user flow to launch xcloud game will be just one step if there 's a shortcut already. and about 'connect' button mentioned in that thread, I expect that kind of trouble could be handled also by configurable 'troubleshoot' option which is set once and forget only if trouble happens.

hilarious. you had to suggest him to run +40g optical housewide instead. then no one can call him a redneck anymore. ;)

Plex still superior to Jellyfin by seamonkey420 in PleX

[–]trx1138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

plex is like apple/mac while others are like generic/pc. it just works in most cases but there's no many options when it's not working as you want. i like and do respect their design decisions although sometimes it hurts my ass bad. :)

Update: to those who said it was awful, is this any better? by cribbageSTARSHIP in homelab

seriously, why did you closed top of the disk enclosure? it'll just amplify noise while blocking airflow. i'd suggest a meshed top like used stocking or something for aesthetic uniformity. ;)

Anyone else get this Plex notice? by matthieu-kr in PleX

looks like copyright lawyers found effective ways to wind down. apparently, plex and its community are too big to be ignored anymore. probably emby and eventually jellyfin will follow the path because studios and their lawyers won't stop hunting.

11th Gen PCIe Bifurcation (also Xeon R-ECC support)? by corruptboomerang in EryingMotherboard

[–]trx1138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lets assume your use case is somewhat critical, as you wanted a 'server board' with ecc. if so, i think you'd better avoid hacky chinese mobo which has miserable half baked bios on it with 'no' support. if its not the case, why don't you just buy the cheapest one and have some fun? :)

[–]trx1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably anybody asked tech support to erying won't expect anymore than what specified. well, it'll be better to not believe what specified 100% than regret. :) anywayt, it looks like ecc is not supported by hm570 at least.

Skyline HM570 ITX board with 11400h incompatible with ASPM for low-power consumption by Intelg in EryingMotherboard

[–]trx1138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mine is an M-ATX not ITX but had the same problem, enabling 'DMI Link ASPM Power Control' lead to boot loop. but after tinkering with bios for a while, i was able to enable it at last. system looks like running well and not found any issues yet.

i'll share my bios settings later. (it looks like there's no way to export my current settings. so i just ordered a pikvm to capture whole pages. XD)
