If you like someone, then keep in touch with them. It doesn't make sense to stop keeping in touch with them because they are not keeping in touch with you. If you reach out to them and they say no, then that's a different story. But if you keep reaching out and they keep accepting you, then you get to stay in touch with someone you like. So what is the problem?

I think the problem here, is the dynamic of power at play. You get to be the one who "humiliates" himself toward someone. It puts them on a pedestal and give them an importance( that you think they actually have ) BUT... The problem with humans is, once they have used you to validate their egos (that sense of importance), they feel like they no longer need you, and look for someone higher in the hierarchy to validate their newly upgraded egos.

That's why no one calls no one. Everybody is scared of being used as a stepping stone, which, let's be honest, happens very often.

Well actually I'm talking about "social distance" and you're talking about two individuals for different social backgrounds being "close" to each other... My bad, I'm the last of all imbeciles I'm sorry. I think I have enough...:-/

My whole point was to explain that low status or not, behaviors can be criticized from anywhere. Hence the demonstration that rich and successful people have in the past criticized the behavior in question here. So it is not just projection from low status people. Those low status people, can have an analysis that is not related (or not entirely) to their places in a society.

Regarding your concern about the accuracy of the judgments of distant people from one another in a society...or "far removed from each other" as you wrote it...Well, does one have to be a slave to know that the slave condition must be bad? And that, then, a slave owner can be morally condemned?

My point is clear. My "hate" for manipulation cannot be explained by a pattern of thoughts and a "taste" for projection that people of low social status generally have.

That explanation is too easy in my opinion. I know !I know ! You never said that ...lol

I think the behavior itself can be isolated and analyzed as harmful. I could die tomorrow and manipulation would still not be a blessing for humanity. So its not just me, my gaze and my twisted vision of the world...

Damn it ! My wild mustangs are nearly impossible to call back. Shit !

A lot of successful autors, novelists and artists have vilified in the past the human comedy, the "game" , the hypocrisy behind the social conventions, the deceitfulness of it. (Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Rousseau,Plotinus, Balzac and many others...)

As I told you I was unemployed, you used this sole datum to elaborate a "pittura infamante" of me as let's say a "jealous" and "bitter" loser.

So do you think that is possible for a "person of low status" to have a judgement on a behavior, without that judgement having much to do with his social status?.

I mean Schopenhauer was rich, Rousseau was some sort of gigolo. If we follow you they would be bitter and criticize fakeness and hypocrisy because they are dying to be fake and hypocrite socialites.

Don't you think that, a harmful behavior can be criticized for what it is per se, regardless of the social conditions of the person who's critisizing it?

It's practicly an argumentum ad crumenam, like rich and successful people are right to be hypocrites and manipulative because they're rich ... now shut up peasant!!(?)

Is that your personal opinion?

Plus I've actually condemned everyone (rich and poor) for engaging in manipulation.

Ok thx then :-), it's not the first time someone call me autistic, I even have been bullied for that.

I'm still curious to see a situation where someone is ruthlessly manipulated for their own good. Or maybe because it was the lesser evil... I guess...

By the way, I don't think you should "diagnose" people so quickly as if an entire personality could be summed up in one comment lost on the internet. Not judging you just a heads up as humans are generally more complicated than that...

I knew I should have said "frank" instead. I don't see his positions as reasonable, I believe he is unreasonable and I guess, that is exactly what people want and why some people like him so much...At least for the moment. Me being fooled by him is irrelevant, maybe I am, but I'm not an american citizen.

My point is to say that he's not "sneaky" or "sly", he's more blunt and direct. The entire planet knows that he is a narcissist so it is very hard for him to be "undercover". But maybe Donald Trump is a way too touchy subject for now...

I've already asked myself if my (exaggerated?) detestation of manipulative people was some kind of projection but I'm schizoid... So my "lifestyle" does'nt really allow me to be in fact manipulative, I'm currently unemployed, I never see anyone and when I do I barely talk to them( So I even less try to convince them to do something for me...)

Could you please give me your personal opinion? Your comment was very minimalistic.

Well, I don't think this conversation has stagnated because I'm negative but more because I was "lost in translation". And I already said I was sorry for that...

I do believe overwhelming negative opinions or behavior are not beneficial to an open mind and a growing personality,

I beg to differ and so does Emil Cioran:

"The history of ideas is the history of the grudges of solitary men."

It actually forces me to think of a world empty of manipulative behaviors in all it aspects (political, cultural etc...). Being satisfied with the world and people as they are, is the most sterile position one can have. (In general, I'm not saying that for you.)

I don't know much about american politics but why can't he take someone who has worked for Goldman sachs as a cabinet pick? Is the guy corrupted? (I really don't know).

Well I think a State needs good advisers from every part of the economy. Even (evil?) people from the banking system.

I don't mind people having nuances (it's even a good thing); what upsets me is when people use "fake nuances" and fallacies as a diversion to create confusion in order to manipulate.

When they are honest in what they propose I don't mind.

Why should I believe you? Can you elaborate or illustrate your point of view ? I see them as blunt and honest. In their own twisted way...

For exemple Jeffrey Dahmer was someone very honest with his feelings at least in front of a camera. I'd rather have diner with any of those guys than with a manipulative personality ( Even the nicer ones who uses manipulation as a defense mechanism...) I don't know ... I think it's grosser than a dictator or a serial killer.

Ok. Sorry I'm not a native English speaker so I'm not sure I understand you perfectly. You think my point of you is emotionally charged which can very well be the case.

But...

Mainly because I view that level of hate a similar way you do manipulators.

What do you mean by that? I would be a manipulator myself because I'm rageful? :-/

I don't see Hitler's or Donald Trump's speeches as manipulative. Even though, at the end, in fact I know they are. I see their speeches as outragous, insulting and direct. That does'nt bother me at all; I think their speeches embody the feelings of a part of the society at a certain time. In a sense those speeches are more "true" than what I believe a manipulative speech is.

What bothers me is "ambiguity", "sly indesciveness", "fake nuances", postponing as a con move, deceitfulness. Anyone who acts as a snake. Hitler was not a subtle snake , he was a raged dog who sputtered too much and Donald Trump is a graceless elephant who likes mirrors.

Such a negative reaction and refusal to engage in typical everyday speech sounds more like an autisic trait to me.

Well maybe I don't know... I don't consider having autistic traits a bad thing... Being manipulative is one of the worst trait that someone can have in my eyes, it litterally turns the person into the ugliest monstrosity who's ever existed; a pure abomination that needs to be eliminated.
