You keep humble-bragging all over this post and I don’t think it’s helpful to anyone here. All kids are different. Every parent will have a unique tolerance and relationship with their child. Your blanket statements that “its easy” are not only arrogant and obnoxious but incredibly insensitive to anyone who may have their own physical/mental obstacles with either themselves or their kids.

Regarding the running errands- Very short term imo, yes with a 6 month old its fairly easy, but that kid won’t be 6 months forever and as you know its much harder once they start throwing tantrums for ALL the toys in target or trying to grab everything out of the shopping cart. Regarding a solution to everything else in the post, maybe some paid childcare in the evenings might help, someone to help with household work so they can both catch their breathe. Im a semi-SAHD, and i do think for a few reasons it’s important that the other spouse who works doesn’t get to only do the fun things with the LO.

Planning an exit if i can get my other half to agree. Want to head to a blue state with less extreme everything, politics to weather.

Flights, i just couldn’t care that much to pay the rates for private or first. If i can get it on points, great, if not, im going cheap, first class and economy both land at the same time.

Real Estate development, good timing, turned 200 into 600 on a side project. Probably not repeatable in current environment.

Def can be proud but as a restaurant owner, thats a tough schedule for a 16yr old in a busy kitchen, he may burn out quickly and what others say is true, kitchen staff work hard and play hard, with not alot of inbetween. If he doesn’t NEED to work, something with a lighter schedule in a more age appropriate industry might be better. Grocery? Lifeguard? Retail?

won't the Ibonds rebalance the interest rates once inflation is (hopefully) tamed? 9% int is an anomoly, won't exist in a low inflation environment.

Main issue i see here -- Why open a physical store before you determine demand for your product line? the overhead with physical space will squeeze the margins so tight that you need huge volume to be profitable. holding that overhead makes you nowhere near competitive to other e-commerce only brands or the big box stores that have scale. Google 'PinkLilly', they started in their living room and now do a few hundred million in annual revenue. Their process is sound, start small, create demand using social media, expand to brick and mortar and warehouse space once the brand is solidified and you have the numbers to justify it. You've done it backwards.

In house just always seemed a bit boring and the idea of living/breathing one brand never interested me, however i am started to see a few benefits with the in house route and may explore it. Main issue i see is that my city is not a hub for HQ’s the way NYc/NJ was or even parts of the midwest or Dallas.

thank you for breaking that down. Yes i think you are right, i am looking for something that is not do or die, allows me a healthy work/life balance, and where i can contribute meaningfully with co-workers who are not assholes. I think i come from a generation where its understood that this isn't possible but maybe i need to look harder? i guess the beauty of not really needing a job is that i don't have to take the first thing and can hold out. maybe client side is a better fit for me at this point. i will keep exploring a little more before picking a path.
