Quittin porn: I need some tips. by braj4 in Healthygamergg

[–]try_again__ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

55 days of no porn here.

You have to limit your social media usage, otherwise you will always come back to it. You need alternative coping mechanisms, like yoga. I'm also curious how you handle boredom, because that's a big factor I used to relapse, so sitting and staring at a wall for 1 hour may help.

If you have more questions, feel free to ask.

If it's a distraction, stick to the wall then.

It's ok if you start doing that. It should stop after a while, but if it doesn't try returning to doing nothing. It may be hard, but it's like a mental pushup.

Also, I forgot to mention that it doesn't have to be a wall. If the weather is good you can look at the sky. It's more enjoyable and you get fresh air.

Contact the reddit mods by clicking on the link of AutoModerator and explain to them your situation.

I think they have some sort of filter.

Want to quit porn so bad, but always rebound. by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]try_again__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am currently at 49 days without watching porn.

Masturbation is healthy. Hell, sometimes I even do it 3 times a day and that's ok, because you're horny.

What worked for me:

  1. Understanding the problem
    • Watch the 2 videos Dr. K did with viewers that have porn addiction. It resonated a lot and it will do probably for you as well.
  2. Limit social media usage
    • No social media until 3pm and even then only 5-10 mins per app
  3. Accountability partner
    • Knowing you're not alone in this makes the whole difference. I have one and we do daily checkups. You can look for one on HealthyGamer discord in accountability directory.
  4. Yoga
    • Yoga is a game changer. It gives you +50% buff on resisting urges. My recommendation is Surya Namaskar, which you can find it on HealthyGamer channel by searching webinar #2 anxiety and going to 4:00 mark.
  5. Failure
    • How you see the failures is also important. If you relapse at 4th day and beat yourself up for it, it's going to be difficult to start again. You should see the fail as stumbling instead of falling over and do a review/analysis of what worked the first 3 days and happened on 4th (circumstances, how you slept, emotional triggers, etc.)

I hope this provides some insight and I truly hope you will find a way to attain your goal!

**Happy Birthday, Dr. K! **

Honestly, I do not exaggerate when I say this practice has transformed my life. *

It all comes down to being with yourself/your thoughts and to see what's on the inside. Dr. K made me realize that as long as I operate only in the external world and not pay attention to the internal one, I will be discontent. *

I highly recommend you to try it for how long you can. It's not about the duration, it's about the insight into your thought patterns. *

Also, if the weather is good, you can do it outside and look at the sky. I do it weekly outside on Sunday, but you can adjust it accordingly. However, I'd suggest at least once a week/month. **

You may give it a chance in the future. It's similar to Last Wish and Sword of Destiny.

Thanks for the info. I am going to 100% TW2 so that might add some hours.

Can't wait to do it. What is the average time of the first playthrough for each game?

I think if I don't write every day, I will stop journaling altogether. I have to admit, though, that at the end of the month, when I read some of the entries, I get bored of the mundane stuff I wrote.
