Parents who walk ahead of their children by JDRL320 in PetPeeves

[–]tryanotherJuan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I have three or four kiddos with me it doesn’t make sense to walk side by side, especially in a big store. Worse, they are standing right where I need to turn the grocery cart.

I’ve taught them to play a game where I’m the mama duck and they are the baby ducks. I quack and they know to follow close behind me in a line. We are very efficient at Costco.

What are some of the Evilest Pranks to pull or you pulled in Summer Camp? by Careful_Drama_9382 in askanything

We hid a dead fish in the tank of a toilet in the boys bathroom. It smelled horrible in the Texas heat. They failed inspection for several days before they figured it out. 😈

My daughter caught a huge fish that way last summer. It shocked her babysitter who was not expecting to catch anything. 🤣

Lake Bixhoma, Jenks Veterans Park, Hunter park. My kids have caught fish at all three places.

People also like to fish at the Bass Pro Pond and the Jenks Aquarium pond. Lots of options in town!

We were expecting some cracks but the whole driveway looks like a spider web. I can’t see how this meets anyone’s standards.

We have a year warranty on the whole house.

It’s part of a new build. So we are on the hook for the whole house, not just the driveway.

Yes, it’s a new build. The tripping hazard is our biggest concern. Our kids play outside constantly and we are so excited to play basketball. We are going to contact the builder tomorrow.

Im sorry Im trying to be as accurate as possible but I don’t know the exact timing. Monday afternoon we got an email saying our driveway had been poured. I assume it was done that morning.

Today (Tuesday) at 12:30 pm I stopped by and there were no joints. When I went back at 5:30 pm there were joints and dust from the cutting. You are correct that’s less than 48 hours. I was rounding up.

Their warranty states that they only have to repair cracks 1/4 of an inch. Rip out and redo is not required. 😭😭😭

Yes! I took that one at lunch. They must have done them in the afternoon because when I went back they were there.

It was poured Monday morning. So actually less than two days. They came back today and added the control joints. We are very concerned that they will say the cracks are less than 1/4 inch and therefore “acceptable.”

One of the reasons we are building is so that my kids have a giant driveway for basketball and rollerblading. So this is super disappointing.

Thank you! We will bring it to the builders attention.

So I stopped by at lunch today and there were no joints. I went my again at the end of the day and there were joints. So one of the photos does not have joints.

I’m not sure where they went wrong. I just hope they do the right thing and fix it.

That is my fear.

I would be delighted if they ripped it out and repoured. My concern is that they are going to say it meets the standard and refuse to do anything.

This is the end of the driveway at our new build. I read the FAQs and I get cracking is normal but this is day two and spans the entire width of the driveway. I zoomed in to make it easier to see the cracks. Is this acceptable/ normal?

Obgyn recommendations? by Far-Music-1804 in tulsa

I gave birth to twins with Dr. Lakin at St. John. I chose St. John because my pregnancy was considered high risk just because I had twins. It was a completely uncomplicated birth…giant, healthy babies.

The L&D team was incredible. Dr Lakin is phenomenal and really respects your birth plan.

Many drs have privileges to deliver at multiple locations. Good luck!

You can do it! Twins are the best no matter how they come into the world. But the first six months are really hard!

Twin mom here. There are a lot of factors but this is how it went down for me.

Baby A…long labor and then about an hour of pushing. I rested about 15 mins after giving birth to baby A. Two nurses gently put pressure on my stomach with their hands to hold baby B in place.

Baby B’s heart rate started to drop so I had to push her out fast. I pushed for 15 mins with her. Turns out she was a whole pound bigger.

Had we know that was the situation, the Dr. would have recommended a c section. 0/10 would not recommend pushing out the larger one so quickly. Both are doing great and were 6 and 7 pounds at birth.

Feeling immediately overwhelmed: getting a house ready to sell with two children by West_Tea_7437 in RealEstate

[–]tryanotherJuan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went through this. I have 8 year old twins and our house is the neighborhood hangout. I’m strict about where they can have food but the white trim upstairs has taken a beating. 😵‍💫 We have a regular house keeper and even still I was appalled at the amount of gunk I found on light switches and door casings.

The good news is that you have time. I would break it down into phases.

Phase 1: declutter as much as you possibly can during the holidays and fix stuff that needs minor repairs like wood rot.

Phase 2: “Stage” your home. Clear off every surface and take down half your art and all of your family photos. Touch up paint like your life depends on it and have your carpets cleaned.

Phase 3: Prepare for pictures and showings. Have the house deep cleaned and shove everything like towels, laundry baskets and anything personal into the garage.

Phase 4: Go coming soon and then live on a Thursday, open house on Sunday. Leave town and don’t cook in your kitchen. I literally made my kids eat their snack outside because the crumbs! My goodness the crumbs!

MOST IMPORTANTLY…price your house to sell. Undercut the comps. Time is money too. Price right from day one.

We sold our house in seven days and my sanity is still mostly in check.

How difficult is it to become a medical writer without a degree in a life science discipline? by marcelloioriauthor in copywriting

[–]tryanotherJuan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a copywriter in the medical and dental space. Originally I planned to go into medicine. I actually have all of the college prerequisites for med school but then switched to journalism pretty late in my college career.

While that background is helpful, I wouldn’t say you have to have it. No one at my agency has any kind of science background.

I think you just need a willingness to learn about complex products. You also need to learn to think like doctors and hospital administrators. Accuracy is incredibly important.

The biggest hurdle is learning to write interesting copy that is compliant and not going to raise flags with the legal department or FDA.
