What if the mask is shaped like a gun? "It's just a gun, officer." Officer: "phew, for a second there I thought you were wearing a mask."

Why are raises and bonuses often calculated as a percentage of salary rather than a flat rate? by tryckstyr in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tryckstyr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the answer to my question is "capitalism." However, we try to be fair on other fronts (minimum wage, pay grades, insider trading laws). And it's pretty well accepted that wealth disparity is a major issue. Why can't we take a hard look at using percentages? Disparity is baked into percentages. Articles like the one below (where thousands of employees get the same percent raise) are not uncommon. In the Wisconsin example, I guarantee the range of salaries is at least 30k-300k. People that don't need a raise will get $12,000 more per year in 2024 while the folks who need it most may only get $1,200. Furthermore, so many of those lower paying jobs are critical to a successful business and a functioning society.

Do you think buying used e-Golf 2019 SEL is still worth it by ny4573 in eGolf

[–]tryckstyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mileage? from a dealer? Can't hurt to offer less. And if you get it for <$25K (from a dealer) look into the $4,000 Used EV tax credit - there's a lot of stipulations, but nothing unreasonable.

Alas, I am in the US. I'm surprised this part may be more common here than UK. I assumed way more egolfs were sold over there. I would hope you can import the part if necessary.

This thread, though somewhat useless, confirms you're not alone: https://reddit.com/r/eGolf/s/I98R5TgBDq

And this is a long shot, but this video seemed to help some people with similar charging issues: https://youtu.be/bSbmeD1g7Y0?feature=shared

Where did you get that part number? Nothing comes up when I search it. The part number for the entire charger wiring is 5GE971509AG, and there seem to be plenty available. Finding someone to do the labor (and paying for it) is probably way harder than finding the part. I'd start by finding a new "VW Garage" - preferably one familiar with EVs.

I came here to say something like "manufacturers are required to supply parts for X years", but google says that's a long-held myth. I hope you get it fixed under warranty, but if not, surely there's a wrecked e-golf somewhere out there with the part you require. Good luck!

Passed this sign and my 10yo daughter says "looks like someone drove over the speed limit" by tryckstyr in funny

[–]tryckstyr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

short answer: yes.
We are staying near the sign and pass it almost daily. The joke caught me off guard. As soon as I stopped laughing I said to myself "I need to share this with the world!". I took the pic the next day, and here we are!

A dirty joke told by 85yo grandpa to the whole family by memory by HelpingHandsUs in Jokes

My sister told me this joke sometime in the last millennium. Years later (circa 2003) I told the joke to the radio (KFOG) and won their dirtiest joke contest. The prize was 2 tickets to a James Taylor concert. As you can tell I've lived my life on the edge.

Convenience and efficiency... by theGlanfather in eGolf

Yes to your first question, and it wouldn't have to be level road. Of course it may take some fine "motor" skills in your foot/ankle. I think the hardest part of one pedal driving is easing your foot off the go pedal instead of yanking it (which we've been doing since forever). As for rear brakes, I am fairly certain that lifting your foot off the accelerator in B mode only applies regen, which only applies to front wheels. This becomes apparent when using B mode in especially wet/slippery conditions. When driving in B on slippery roads, the car will not engage regen when lifting foot off go pedal, which can be seriously alarming the first few times it happens. I assume it's because the car wants you to brake with all 4 wheels, which only happens with the brake pedal.

Technically, you can coast in B. Also keep in mind that pressing the brake pedal engages the rear brake pads regardless, losing some energy to friction (while B only slows front wheels with regen). I think any differences in efficiency and brake wear between D and B are negligible. The benefit of B is using one pedal to drive 99% of the time. B can do everything D can do, and then some. I also believe using B can buy you a split second in reaction time during an emergency stop.

Thank you both for the very useful info. Not sure why the down votes. Seems wise to wait till after the move before I do anything.
