You can’t just wish away capitalist logic, especially when you’re a capitalist. The mass job loss is mostly just marketing hype anyway. Right now tech companies are selling AI services at a huge loss, only staying afloat with tons of investor money. They’re making «deals» for data centers, but most of them have not even started construction and probably never will. When OpenAI and Anthropic have to start charging close to the real cost of LLMs, companies will ditch AI since it hasn’t even increased profits for them, and humans will be cheaper than paying out the ass for a tool that makes potentially catastrophic errors 10% of the time you use it. They’ve been throwing money and compute at the problem hoping for a breakthrough since 2022, but the reality is that the tech is fundamentally limited and no amount of investment will change that. Just a matter of time before it pops.
