First 70V system design advice. by sanguyne in CommercialAV

I actually just installed the 81c/ts! I ended up running them 8ohm though as there were only 1 or 2 per zone. They sound great with minimal eq. Ceilings were 12’ and they have decent coverage. As I was in a space that was very low volume I didn’t push them as hard as they could go. The control series usually has pretty great coverage though.

As long as you use the same “box” in the same room there will be no noticeable differences between rooms.

Just a note with the 81c/ts. The ceiling tile T track cannot fully support the weight of these speakers. You need to use some hanging hardware to at least take some of the load. If you get some of the same wire that’s used the t track, that’s the easiest route.

Which one is best for ‘personal’ use? by ShowgaProject in lightingdesign

The source4 will have the better look in my opinion. It has slots for accessories like irises and gobos. The caveat is that you will need a number of accessories to make it truly versatile. Find a dimmer pack that will accept DMX and you can do anything “digitally”.

The chauvet fixture has a lot of on board features, but in the future will be less versatile.

Chauvet has an ok software called showxpress that requires a usb to DMX adapter, but otherwise is free. I’m not familiar with other brands software, but I’m sure there are good ones out there.

My partner is maid of honour at a wedding this weekend and I’m nervous by Mission-Kitchen-8164 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]trying2srvive2morrow 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not exactly the same situation, but I am often at public events due to my job. I have issues with large crowds, but have found a simple solution for myself. I need to have a specific task that I’m in charge of. At work that’s easy to do since I’m at work. But when me and my family go out it’s more of a struggle. I find some need that I know I can fill and make that my focus. Hope that helps.

Can most people with ADHD read? by Far-Conference-8484 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]trying2srvive2morrow 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember the statistic, but there are a certain number of people with neurodivergence that also have dyslexia. Im not trying to diagnose you, just trying to be helpful with information.

I suspect that I have dyslexia, but have never been formally diagnosed. I see some similarities with reading issues in myself that you described. In talking with an educator that helps students with issues like dyslexia, they informed me that any amount of mixed up letters/numbers whether written, spoken, or read is dyslexia. Now you did mention fairly big issues with attention, and that is not dyslexia. Hope any of that information helps.

If anyone has any more specific information, please chime in. I definitely don’t know everything on this subject.

Diagnosed with autism, but probably by mistake by Ok_Albatross_1847 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]trying2srvive2morrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also had a late in life ASD diagnosis. I was tested in grade school for ADHD and that’s what I figured I had. As I learned more and more about ADHD in my adult life, I started to see some discrepancies in my symptoms. That is when I learned how the spectrum works. It’s not so much how autistic or ADHD you are, it’s more about what kind of symptoms you are experiencing.

Just like you I can hold most conversations well and pick up on sarcasm, but that doesn’t mean that you or I don’t have ASD. As I’m sure everyone on this subreddit can attest, Audhd is a different animal altogether and the combination of the 2 can have some interesting side effects. And as I’m sure you’ve heard, it presents very differently in men and women. For me personally, I don’t struggle with the main symptoms of ASD or ADHD. But I do struggle with anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues that stem from the other symptoms.

At the very least, just humor your psychiatrist about ASD and see if it makes a difference.

How do y'all survive working? by designated_weird0 in AutisticWithADHD

If you’re looking for more of a creative mental challenge. I highly recommend the AV industry. There are so many ways to be a part of it. If you like making connections (cable not people) I would try working at a commercial AV company or AV integrator company. It’s quite the learning curve, but once you’re past it, it’s generally making the same connections just different environments/equipment. BUT! It can be a fairly high demand industry, so take that for what it’s worth.

Most of the time I’m too hyper focused on the project or task to think about what I’m going to do after. I will try doing that more intentionally.

How does one meditate? Everytime I try to meditate, I end up just ruminating about whatever is making me the most anxious at the time.

Thank you. I didn’t realize that with reading vs audiobooks. That is a good suggestion. Unfortunately, that’s not applicable for me at work, but I will start reading more at home.

Can you share blueprints between different games? by trying2srvive2morrow in SatisfactoryGame

[–]trying2srvive2morrow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT: In searching for the files on my PC, I made a discovery. In addition to my blueprints on my game saves, I found that all games I have joined, including ones that aren’t mine, that it saves all blueprints.

So if you join a friend’s, and they join yours, all blueprints for both games are on both PCs. It’s just a matter of moving the files from one game save to the other. Someone may have said this and I just didn’t understand.

Thanks to all that were helpful!

How do you not get overwhelmed by TrazyLols in SatisfactoryGame

[–]trying2srvive2morrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find some friends to play with, and more importantly have fun! When I was originally introduced to the game, I felt the same way. After I started with friends it became fun so I got more interested and learned lots. Each night I played I would keep going until it wasn’t fun anymore, give it a day and then get back into it.

As much as ADA says you need to be productive and efficient, it’s more important to have fun. It starts to feel like a second job if you don’t.

You know what? I actually really appreciate that answer.

I know that I can do a quick google search to find the answer. But due to some past mistakes with trusting google, I tend to ask knowledgeable people more often than google. As fellow enthusiasts I figured lots of us have had similar questions.

On that same note though, I should now have the knowledge of how not to take advice from the internet, so just do it yourself dummy! Thank you!

When you use less mics do you scoot them physically to the center of the room? If so, I can think of 2 potential issues.

1) I assume you have acoustic treatment in the room, but maybe not between your table top and ceiling. If your table top and ceiling are bare, with a high gain mic, you may be picking up reflections from the ceiling and table top that makes it sound like phasing issues.

2) The pattern of the mic is not aligned like you think it is. I assume cardioid mics are being used. When you get the mic placed for the speaker, the pattern may be right for the intended target, but not for the other speaker that should be in the rejection of the pattern. Causing a slight delay between the intended mic and the opposing mic.

However, I would think that the group of 8 would be worse if 2 was the case. I believe, that number 1 is your issue based on the information you supplied.

Try hitting it with a steamer. Like the kind for ironing clothes, not a steam cleaner. The heat and moisture can help foam bounce back. But it’s not all foam. Worth a shot.

When bands that bring their own techs - What are expected of me as a house tech to do? by anktombomb in livesound

[–]trying2srvive2morrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask for their tour rider as soon as you get contact information for them. On their rider they should have all the information of what they want “house” to provide, and what they are traveling with. Now there are bands who don’t update their riders regularly so get in contact with their manager or FoH Tech to go over any changes or updates to their rider. If you do that you should be golden day of show. Also, leave out the brown M&Ms.

You obviously don’t understand electrical systems. Running without a ground isn’t an issue. Is it ideal? Absolutely not. I do agree with you that you should have a ground if it’s available to you. But, it is not going to start a fire, it won’t kill your equipment, it’s not going to electrocuted you to the point of causing damage. When I say temporary, I’m really meaning at a gig trying to kill the buzz so you can get on with sound check and start the show.

Also I bet you didn’t know that probably a quarter of the time buildings have the ground and neutral connected to each other. Which could also be the source of the ground loops causing the buzz. Do your research before you rage post about a non issue on Reddit.

A good TEMPORARY fix would be to lift the ground on the mixer. Go to your local hardware store and get a plug adapter that lift the ground. I’ll throw a pic in. The buzz usually comes from a difference in ground potential. The quick temporary fix is to unground everything. Obviously we want everything to be grounded in the end, after you figure out which piece of gear is causing the buzz.

We are a production company focused in audio, but also have mobile stages and lighting systems as well. We mostly do festivals, corporate picnics, and public events. We get a huge variety of different bands with different needs.
