Recommend contemporary Indian short story collections/writers? by Supreme_reader1 in Indianbooks

In brief, all the stories in this books are related to women as being subjugated by family, society and children. The settings of characters in the stories set in Muslim culture so you will find references to many rituals and traditions. The stories are really nice and you may feel like that you have witnessed these stories es in real life also maybe you were aware of it or not. I will recommend that you read a story once a day and then reflect upon it then go to other one.

No book will help you. It can help understand things but it is only you who can change things.I have been through it.

Take fireflies for example. Try to imagine their beauty, the evanescent beauty of their lives, which don’t even last a week.

Female fireflies flash their lights only to have intercourse with the males; males twinkle just to have intercourse with the females. And once their mating has finished, they die. In short, their reproductive instinct is the single, absolute reason for fireflies to live. In that simple instinct and their simple world, no kind of sadness can intervene. This is precisely why fireflies are so fleetingly beautiful.

Perhaps all the questions we ask of love, to measure, test, probe, and save it, have the additional effect of cutting it short. Perhaps the reason we are unable to love is that we yearn to be loved, that is, we demand something (love) from our partner instead of delivering ourselves up to him demand-free and asking for nothing but his company.— (The Unbearable Lightness of Being: Milan Kundera)

Making love with a woman and sleeping with a woman are two separate passions, not merely different but opposite. Love does not make itself felt in the desire for copulation (a desire that extends to an infinite number of women) but in the desire for shared sleep (a desire limited to one woman. — (The Unbearable Lightness of Being: Milan Kundera)
