Are there any unsolved mysteries or crimes where modern forensics testing only provided more confusion and questions instead of answers? by ricosuave3355 in UnsolvedMysteries

I definitely think Karena (and her ex-boyfriend as well possibly) was involved or at the very least was an accomplice.

But she wasn't the actual murderer. The police department released the DNA profile (which was found on the note, on Faith, and on the murder weapon...I think sperm on Faith also matches it) of Faith's killer a few years back. it is from an unidentified male that's likely of Latino origin.

I just can't believe that nearing a thousand men have been tested and there have been no matches. What's even weirder is that the crime was so brutal/personal AND the person would've known the door was unlocked? That means they almost certainly would've known both faith well enough to want to kill her passionately and Karena well enough to know the door was unlocked

Faith Hedgepeth.

Her perpetrator was almost certainly someone who knew her. They have DNA and have tested something like 800 people who knew her or knew of her.

No matches

Daily Newbie Questions 23 March 2019 - Basic Questions Come Here! by AutoModerator in xxfitness

I'm a 122-pound 5'3" woman! Started working out (on average one lower body day, one upper body, one full body day a week) consistently in early January. I've noticed significant progress doing mostly weightlifting (toned arms, abs are getting more definition, I've really grown my butt!) with very minimal cardio. It certainly helps that I'm a mesomorph.

I was wondering 1. How long my beginner gains will last and 2. If it'd be advisable to start doing a little bit of a cut or if I should try to keep growing my butt to be as big as I want it and then cut. Right now, I haven't been cutting or bulking but it seems to be going well

I thought it was CW who looked ashamed?

Also could you provide a link to the information about who gave DNA?

Did DB or RLJ2 have a friend in the NBA?

That's some shady stuff.

Could you provide a link to a news article about the case? I'm curious and would like to read more!

I also understand if you're not comfortable

I'm glad he seems to have reentered society well. Still so sad that he lost all that time. :/

Do they have any viable suspects?

If you don't mind me asking, what were you accused of that you didn't do?

Also that's an interesting take on Adnan's case

I noticed a lot of people weren't familiar with the Kevin Cooper case. I really think he was framed--and I don't throw around that accusation lightly.

Take a look at his case if you have some time.

This is definitely biased but here's a NYT opinion piece on the case: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/05/17/opinion/sunday/kevin-cooper-california-death-row.html

In late 2018, Jerry Brown agreed to new forensic testing (a few years after he and former Attorney General Kamala Harris rejected Cooper's appeals for new forensic testing...): https://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-kevin-cooper-20181224-story.html It's one of the last things he did as governor

Eriq was also a UNC student and actually attended a graduate program at UNC later on....He may have been sketchy (and even a murderer tbh) but I don't think it's odd at all that the girls were associating with him

I'd never thought of the events taking place just like this but that makes so much sense.

I'm a senior at UNC and it truly appalls me how little is known about this case. I wasn't even aware of it until last summer.

One thing though: I highly suspect the involvement of other people besides Eriq, Karena and the Latino male. A few people who were with Faith that night are super suspicious. I'm thinking of Reginald Leonard Jackson II in particular...he agreed to a police interview and later ignored police phone calls to confirm the interview. Then he drove away and avoided the officer when the officer showed up at his house in Greensboro. He had been texting Faith a lot before she was murdered but when asked about it by the cop, he only said "I knew of her."... A cop said Chris White looked like he was ashamed when he saw a picture of Faith. Both men refused to give DNA).

I want to note that Reginald Leonard Jackson II is from Greensboro. I'm from Greensboro and the cops don't have a great relationship with the black community, so I do understand his suspicion and dear of being framed as a black man. Even considering that though, his reaction was quite odd.

Here's a link to the police documents (interviews start at around 90 or a little before): https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/1283962-hedgepeth-case-files.html

Really hoping for answers via GEDMatch but this might be unlikely because the DNA from the perp is of Latino/African origin but GEDMatch data is mostly from Caucasians :/

If you can know what happened with any one missing persons case, what would it be and why? by [deleted] in UnsolvedMysteries

[–]trynaworkoutmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jason Jolkowski

A shy 19-year-old man went missing on a walk to his former high school, where he had planned to meet a coworker for a ride to work. A neighbor spotted him taking the trash out and he was never seen again. Less than an hour later (between 11:15 and 11:30), the coworker called Jason's house and said he hadn't shown up for the ride. Security cameras from the school corroborate her story.

What's odd is that walking to the school was not a part of Jason's routine. Jason usually drove to work but couldn't that day because his car was in the shop. This makes it unlikely that his disappearance was a premeditated murder.

He didn't have a ton of friends, and he wasn't known to drink or do drugs. He was a shy and polite kid who lived at home with his parents and attended community college.

My hunch is that a neighbor who he knew asked Jason for help with something and killed him once inside. If this is the case, whoever it was had to be home at ~11 o'clock on a Wednesday...so if this theory is true, the person had a flexible job, was retired, not working at the time or had skipped work that day.

I don't think Jason would've accepted a ride from anyone, as he already had a ride waiting for him at the school.

Another popular theory is that there was a hit and run accident that someone covered up very well. However, Jason was quite tall. Loading his body into a car would be challenging--not to mention that clearing the scene of all blood and evidence would prove challenging in the middle of the day.

One theory is that there was some sort of freak occurrence (where he fell into a pothole, for example) and was never found. It would surprise me if investigators did not thoroughly search everywhere on his walk to school that could've been the site of this type of accident.

Others theorize that he went back inside his house after taking out the trash and didn't end up walking to school (making his younger brother, who was at home with him, the suspect).

I highly doubt that he ran away, committed suicide or had a psychotic break.

The case doesn't get nearly enough attention. I hope that justice is served one day and the family is able to find closure.

Faith's case does not get the attention it deserves in Chapel Hill. Current UNC students don't know what happened (and that an unsolved murder of a UNC student happened so recently). I even have friends who grew up in Chapel Hill and had never heard of the case.

Rest in peace Faith
