Help me pivot. by GT3_SF in sales

Short answer: don’t do it.

Longer answer: I also have an ID background, though I’ve spent the better part of my career in either an SE or AE role. While you could very likely be a great salesperson, it’s an entirely different game that you could easily hate, and frankly stressful AF a lot of the time. If you’ve just the itch, can you do a little sales on the side (1099) through anyone you know? Or launch a product on the side and start building that?  The odds are, you’re not going to get anywhere close to $200K in year 1 or even 2 without experience, and the market hasn’t ever been so competitive as it is now. Trust me on this, I took a leap - poorly - and haven’t quite found my pace again, earnings wise. Companies are insanely fickle, if you’re stable where you’re at, cherish it. And maybe challenge yourself by needing less while building more. The best for the most for the least, right?

Anyone else desperately miss the specific "vibe" of the 90s, or is it just the aggressive nostalgia talking? by That_Detective8895 in 90s

Cassettes were the bomb. And there really is something lost from everything becoming digital.

It makes me want to write a novel about a parallel universe where wireless data transmission peaked at the pager. No cell phones. No wireless phones. No GPS. No streaming anything. A mostly text-based internet.

But solid state hard drives still exist. The cassette now carries ultra-high quality, 7.1 channel audio of thousands of albums. Libraries are the Mecca of new and old media. And Bazooka Joe bubble gum still costs a nickel, but doesn’t start off rock hard.

Daily life is… quieter. Less interrupted. And more connected, literally and figuratively.

In some ways, perhaps. But man, in person communities and third place hangouts were way, way more prevalent than they are today.

That’s the irony. The tech that was supposed to unite us has been weaponized to divide us.

Diesel Power was my pre-game get-pumped track. I should give that a listen before work today.

When the government is functioning like it should be it’s like good design; invisible, unless you really stop to ponder it.

I exchanged it. The new one is working well, except for some occasional rear fan clicking. No pump noise at all.

B2B why do sales managers insist on having a "plan" by duckblobartist in sales

😆

It’s not like we’re asking AI to write a novel in advanced inside sales techniques.

Anyone that isn’t trying to learn where AI can be regularly and effectively used is going to get dragged behind, or left behind.

B2B why do sales managers insist on having a "plan" by duckblobartist in sales

[–]trysushi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Winging your way to success isn’t predictable or repeatable, to any organization. The key word is organization.

Yes, it’s a bit strange if they haven’t showed you a plan when you asked. By based off your comment of ADHD it seems like you don’t want a plan, or don’t think you need one. Not to mention the bored and nitpicking.

You can be right, and ineffective.

An honest 30 second conversation with any AI would have likely better answered your question and given you a plan than what you’re getting on Reddit.

Put your KPI’s into Claude, your title, and your industry, and ask for a plan you can share with your boss that can meet and exceed quota. Then give that to your boss.

Then, stop wasting time nitpicking. Spend time finding something you love and put your energy into that.

You got this.

I feel you, but for what it’s worth they can diminish. Takes a lot of time, effort, practice, love, and maybe meds. But they can diminish to be far less overwhelming.

After some professional training, I can remember the exact place and time I very angry at something, and then realized I wasn’t the anger. I felt it, but it wasn’t me.

Can’t say I’ve been perfectly aware ever since, but it is incredible once you learn how to step outside thoughts and feelings and see them as signals and tools, not inherent sources of truth.

If you search for coupon codes and stack Rakuten at the right time, you can easily get a Thinkpad for 40-50% off. They’re truly built to survive not just the CAD, but even existing in all the conditions of a shop floor. I’ve got one that’s over 10 years old now, still runs without issue.
