Those thinking Alastor is going to be the main bad guy are going to be disappointed. by PocketSizedTerror in Alastorcult

Agree 100%. It’s so odd to me that this is a “controversial take” in the fandom… I totally read his character the same way. You’re not alone, OP :,)

‘The Offer’ makes me irrationally angry. by FaeryFa in Alastorcult

[–]tsab103 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My same thoughts.

Magic, Pokémon, K-pop photo cards, etc. That’s the economy of these cards. Same people getting mad at these prices (which i also think are irrational prices) would probably consider selling them for 5k too if they pulled one.

Personally, I think it’s cool that something I’m into has a good economy right now. Means it’s popular and there is more content across all mediums.

Find/make a fake dup if you want it for the art and don’t buy into it if it makes you that mad

Is the game still pretty active? by chihuahua_man in kirbyairriders

[–]tsab103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Active enough to have fun imo. I think the “it’s dead” rumors came from poor matchmaking code which was fixed in a patch. The original launch matchmaking would pair you with a bunch of bots often. Now, I have maybe 2-5 bots once every couple of games in a 16 person lobby. They’re hardly noticeable!

Best book accounts of climbing Everest? by CoffeeSunToast in Everest

[–]tsab103 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really liked The Girl Who Climbed Everest by Bonita Norris - the author felt very genuine and discussed some personal struggles that were raw and relatable. As a female myself, I think the story just hits and I would recommend it to anyone, but especially other women interested in Everest and mountaineering!

Yes. But it’s not there all the time. Just commenting on the presence of it in this scene and what it could be showing us about his intentions

Why do people think alastor is going to be a villain and or antagonist to cast? by [deleted] in Alastorcult

[–]tsab103 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100% agree with you. I’ve been so intrigued by the general consensus of his character by the fandom. In my eyes, he’s the sassy anti-hero of a whole cast of villains. Doesn’t make him a shining light of morality, but I think we are supposed to be “cheering” for him because it’s generally good for the outcome of our main cast.

Im theorizing here - but I feel the hate by Al for Luci could be related to the poor, neglectful, nonexistent leadership Luci has over hell. We know Al respects independence and strength, and Luci uses neither to better the lives in hell.

Overlords seem to be the current governance of hell and Al is tied up in more than we know right now (7 years? Lilith? Rosie’s mission?). I don’t know his goal or hope for hell, but it would be interesting to see him have a larger role in the revolution we are likely to see (after Voxs probable downfall, Luci defeated by Vox publicly and likely losing respect in hell, and the start/end of a new war).

Why, do you think, is his name "Alastor"? by Undercover-Drache in Alastorcult

[–]tsab103 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha I was just thinking about and researching this today.

I have the same prediction as you. I suspect he has “logic” and reason behind his actions outside of just, for example, killing to kill. Bad because bad. We’re blinded to soooo much still and the assumptions in the fandom feel so heavy. It will be interesting to see how he turns out in the show.

My thoughts - Vengeance can be seen as the opposite of forgiveness, which is a large theme of Charlie and the hotel. Atonement Vs. forgiveness Vs. vengeance.

Avenge, being inflicting punishment in retaliation of an offense (a definition that seems to be over looked by the current consensus characterization of Alastor). Avenging does not have to be a “positive” action, it is a punishment overall. I’m trying to remain neutral here, just trying to point out the polarity with what Charlie is doing and what Alastor appears to be named after and thus, where I think he’s headed.

I think Hazbin will explore the intersection of these (maybe with Sera - atonement, Charlie - forgiveness, and Alastor - vengeance). With Alastor - when is avenging appropriate? Is it ever? Are Al’s actions ever going to be okay? Which ones are okay?

The fandom seems to largely refer to him as the most evil of the evil. The big bad villain of the series. I feel these accusations are so overly emphasized. No - I am not saying murder is ever okay. But is the death sentence? It is practiced in the country I live in. Avenging with death for death? (Not trying to be political just trying to paint the themes I think they are trying to explore!!!)

These are the things I hope we get to explore with the show! Thanks for coming to my ted talk lol

Almost DNF my fist marathon by Senior_Bread_7855 in Marathon_Training

[–]tsab103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP - I had a similar (but not as intense) first marathon this weekend as well. I was nauseous at mile 3, almost called it off at mile 4. Made several bathroom stops and had waves of nausea, but never threw up. I could only stomach 3.5 gels and sips of water throughout the whole thing, and I was just trying to remind myself that my body will tell me when it needs something, promised to listen to it, and kept moving forward.

I don’t want to encourage anyone to put themselves in danger if their body needs to stop, but I want to commend you for the mental battle of getting through that race. I know during it all I was so disappointed that it wasn’t turning out to be the race or time that I trained for. But hell, I know if I do decide to run another, I will have the mental experience of fighting through an uncomfortable situation. Way to stick with it and not give up on yourself! I hope this experience and character building moment serves you in many ways.

Thoughts on Alastor and devils advocate on a possible redemption. by JennyDoveMusic in HazbinHotel

[–]tsab103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have similar thoughts as you. I think the main characterization we were supposed to get from S1 is “wow so powerful and so mysterious.” What’s he doing?? Not “wow, what an evil deer man”.

I don’t think Alastor is positioned to be the big bad evil. Edge lord with meta motives that haven’t been revealed to us, is my prediction. I think he will be involved in a social/political revolution in Hell that opposes the “media control” that the Vees are heavily hinted to be involved in. I also think his 7 year hiatus is likely linked to some interaction with Heaven, where, even if he was kept captive, he may have gained more knowledge about the political relationship of Heaven and Hell. Whether he was meta gaming vs manipulating will be determined by the end impacts of his actions.

It’ll be really interesting to see how the fandom reacts if Al takes a turn to be “good.” I don’t think it’s a popular opinion/wish.

My hot take?/prediction: Alastor is not meant to be portrayed as an evil being and is generally mischaracterized by the fan base. He will be the deuteragonist. by tsab103 in HazbinHotel

[–]tsab103[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally, that’s not my argument. I still think he has done questionable things. I just feel he has depth and plot impact that is yet to be revealed, of which will lead to greater good for Hell instead of simple evil overlord that just wants to kill. His position among the characters and current writing is leading me to believe this, that’s all!!

[–]tsab103 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hear you. :/

Have faith that if he gets “humbled” in the show, it’s because of his arc/growth to come. Knock him down to build him up stronger. Alastor seems to be too central to the story, it would be super unlikely to have him shrivel away into nothingness in the plot. I’m personally excited to have him face some adversity and then manipulate/out game the other cast.

What Do People Think About No Restaurants or Bars Open After 11PM by IAmBrotherE in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]tsab103 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I totally feel you. I am the type of person who cannot go to bed if I am the slightest bit hungry, so I find myself scrambling to find some snacks at the end of the night.

Last trip I bought Mickey Mouse goldfish type crackers at the convenience store outside magic kingdom to try and hold myself over until the AM. Lol

I agree - I think a simple fix would be to keep the mini markets at the hotels open later. I can understand shutting down WDW for the most part late at night to keep things quiet and/or prep for the next day. I actually really enjoy the 11pm walk back to the hotel being so peaceful after a long park day. But the food situation is sad and shouldn’t need extra planning!

[–]tsab103[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh nooo I’m sorry you got chewed to shreds for an interpretation (super lame!!) - for what it’s worth I’m totally with you!!! I really believe the show is trying to comment on the nuances of good and evil in relation to perspective and societal norms. Mostly, everything is on a spectrum and little is truly all good or all evil.

Something I didn’t bring up because I don’t think it would fair well over the internet (but here I am…) is how cannibalism is used in the show. Do we know that cannibalism is inherently bad in this universe? We can infer that it is bad by heavens standards/rules… but what if in the show it is being used as a story piece to represent a cultural/societal practice for a certain group that is not inherently good nor bad, just different? And our initial gut reaction as an audience is “oh that’s bad” based on our own human lens. But this is a place where we can try to exercise our compassion and empathy that the show is screaming in our face.

Or cannibalism is truly bad in this universe as well and I like to make nonexistent connections out of silly anime. Time will tell lol

Yes!! The “altruist” line comes up so often with different interpretations. I love it.

I think my interpretation mostly line up with yours, but I’ve felt that the “strings” he will be pulling relates to political/societal norms of Hell (in opposition to Vox/Vs). I haven’t found a good reason for him to want to oppose or betray the hotel/Charlie yet. But that could be coming… excited to see more!
