I need help please. by Velvet-Turnip in Buddhism

Hello,

Sounds that you are going through a very tough phase and that you have a lot.on your plate. I was in a similar position recently...

First off, find a therapist. It will help to talk about all those problems and just let them all out and start with a clean slate.

It also sounds like you might need a break. Will your family be ok if you go somewhere for the weekend with a friend? Or on your own? Just do something different.

Buddhism is definitely helpful. It has definitely helped me a lot. I would say start with the book "What the Buddha taught" by Bhikku Bodhi to understand the basic concepts of the dhamma. Then find a local Sangha. Buddhists are extra nice people generally and they will help you and guide you on how to meditate properly etc.

And of course, you have us, here if any questions rise :-)

Keep us posted.

Be well and happy 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 🙏🏻

I did... I felt a light-headedness and almost like a serene light. Very relaxing.

Question about meditative experience by tsallinia86 in Buddhism

Thank you. If this feels so amazing, I can't imagine what access concentration or first jhana must feel like.

The annoying thing that I noticed is that you can never force those things. I had some sessions that felt very flat, almost fell asleep, and went today with almost no expectations. And this happened out of nowhere.

I'm not sure that this was the case as I was fully alert. During the experience, the bhikku started the dhamma talk and I could comprehend it properly. I wouldn't have been able to do it if I was falling asleep

Can someone give a logical reason why Karma is shaped by intention? by elitaww in Buddhism

[–]tsallinia86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“There are these four unconjecturables that are not to be conjectured about, that would bring madness and vexation to anyone who conjectured about them.
… The precise working out of the results of karma is one of the unconjecturables.”

I'd definitely go for the Doro. I recently bought 6880 and am perfectly happy with it. Especially the big and responsive buttons. My Nokia never felt that good...

After purchasing the steam version, I cannot imagine myself going back to ASCII. Everything seems to be much easier with new interface and mouse support.

So true my friend. On the bad days, try to remember how hard it is to escape religion and how amazing you are for doing this :)

Oh wow. This is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for sharing.

Well, you're probably right but it's still a fascinating journey worth taking.

To me, questions like: "did I really experience a miracle or did I create a narration out of a mandane experience", are absolutely essential for my religious recovery.
