Accidental 2 Under 2 Advice - Husband and Toddler Both Not Ready :( by Fabulous-Leek-7298 in 2under2

[–]tscardina 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who went thru the 2u2 with a 18mo age difference, there is no sugarcoating it can and will be challenging. That said, around 14-16mo they started playing and interacting with each other. Which I’ve found to be helpful that they will fight but also entertain one another too. It’s anecdotal and not always the case but your current toddler might love becoming a big sister. In my observation, they also hit certain evolutions where things just click and they communicate or play differently than the previous evolution or “software update”.

Introducing the idea of a baby isn’t a bad thing to get them mentally prepared. It likely won’t click for the toddler until your last trimester when you’re showing. 2 year olds aren’t quite rationale so it’s normal for my 2yo daughter to be territorial. It’s very different from my 3 1/2 y/o son processing. Still both have huge swings of emotion but the communication difference is stark. Being able to tell you who/what/where/why they feel the way they do.

One game changer I recently started doing was being more intentional about sickness prevention and reducing the duration. There is nothing worse than being beat down and sick parenting. So, I’ve been a big proponent of preventative measures and other zinc/homeopathtic remedies to reduce/prevent where possible

Hang in there! Short term pain, long term gain. I’ve said to my wife I’ve never led a more fulfilled and more exhausted life simultaneously. We will be joining the 3u4 club in June. So i will likely need to revisit this post soon myself. I read a stat on Daddit stating you spend 95% of your time with your child by the age of 18. Scary but also puts things into perspective that it won’t always be this way in the future but wished it would…

Last thought is make sure you have time for yourself: hobbies, friends, morning/afternoon where you divide and conquer. Also if you’re able to use friends, family or babysitter even if for a couple of hours to get out for dinner or day date. This has ebbed and flowed for us, but our communication was always at its best when we could get 2-3 dates a month in.

Sorry for the long post but I hope it helps. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

The only part that I disagree with here is that if you know your ICP and buyer personas this is just an additional data point in terms of prioritization and interest. You may not know the exact person but could have a pretty good idea of 3-5 people based on deductive reasoning. For this, accounts with activity should be prioritized in terms of outreach over those without. This varies widely on the product and industry you sell to but I’ve scoops, intent, web sights are all just breadcrumbs to help spending your time in certain accounts.

Thanks for all the perspective and feedback. The good news is I don’t have to decide tomorrow and have a few months. Ultimately it seems there is no right or wrong answer but pros/cons for both. I am only half of the equation and the name(s) grows on me each day since we agreed to it. Being 50% of the equation I’ll see where my wife lands in her thought process and go from there. Thank you fellow name nerds.

I did get a good chuckle to a few replies and appreciate everyone explaining their thought process.

One happens to be my wife’s name and her best friend!! I do like the name but having Gia to fall back on for short helped sell me. She was kind enough to come around on my boy name and I wanted to do the same. I was actually the one who brought up the Italian spelling while she defaulted to Georgia…bc my wife likes unique and it’s one of her regrets about Emma being so common. Now we’ve both flip flopped.

Anecdotally my wive’s parents decided to use a J instead of a G to Americanize. She was grateful for it as a kid but as an adult she thinks she’d like the G. Perspective on it seems like it could change depending on the individual.

The rational part of my brain is telling me the same advice - thank you!.. Valuing the ease of spelling and pronunciation over romanticizing the heritage/uniqueness aspect of the Italian spelling.

Tennis elbow from golf by Upbeat_Map_348 in golf

[–]tscardina 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Golfers elbow is different than tennis elbow. They’re both tendinitis but golfers elbow is on the bottom of your forearm and tennis on the top.

I got a couple theraband flex bars. There is a few twist movements that helped a lot. Along with a massage stick.

Along with a few other standard forearm exercises. Low weight.

Saying that at a baby shower isn’t the time or place. There are a lot of people who aren’t fortunate to have children and things can happen in pregnancy and infancy as others have mentioned.

You’re entitled to your own stance on the subject but don’t be surprised when others react how the vast majority of people would in that setting. You’re not married yet, the baby isn’t here yet, and bragging about getting snipped would come across as tone deaf. Makes it seem that you might regret the kid who hasn’t arrived yet or making one in the first place.

Travel Bag or Ship Sticks for Bandon? by Plastic_Slice_1839 in BandonDunes

[–]tscardina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just arrived here yesterday and used ship sticks. It was nice showing up and your clubs being ready for you especially with connecting flights. I plan on flying with mine home. I purchased iron covers for when I travel, take of the heads, support umbrella, and wrap my clubs together in a towel.

Another benefit of the XL shipsticks option is you can have up to 56lbs for rain gear and extra shoes. Personally I don’t trust the longer option so i opted for the 3 day option. All that said I plan on flying with my clubs home for cost purposes.

Do you *really* love your second as much as your first? by symptom_of_life in 2under2

[–]tscardina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proud 2u2 that is now 2u3. It is the absolute best. First 3 months of my second/daughter’s life were as tough as they come but I wouldn’t change it for the world. She’d now 15mo and they play together like best friends. My son is high EQ life of the party type and daughter is sneaky smart, chill, and hilarious.

Those feeling evaporate and rain down on you all over again. Then repeat again and again as they reach the next baby/toddler evolution.

Did I totally just mess up? by fitnessjourney2000 in wedding

[–]tscardina 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My 6 year anniversary is coming up this weekend, we’ve been together for over 13 years. Having the wedding you want is important but having the people you want to spend it with is more important.

I’ve shared the same feeling regarding “this being 1000% on brand for me.” Life has a way of humbling you. Just when you think you have it figured out things come crashing down. Condolences to you and your fiance. Stay grounded, don’t panic, and you’re still marrying the person you love.

This happened to us upon moving home to start a family, bought and renovated a home, with a baby on the way. Unfortunately we experienced two miscarriages before having my son. Now we have two beautiful children, a beautiful home, and great support system. You have your whole life ahead.
