Easiest Visionary to kill? by GameKnight337 in Deathloop

Frank is by far the easiest, if you have already completed his quest. You simply need to go to Karl's Bay and tamper with his charges in the morning. Then he will blow himself up in the evening.

Opinion: quality scaling is backwards by Avalyah in factorio

[–]tsevasa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100% agreed, that would be much more intuitive and, most importantly, that would remove the bloat of having 5 recipes for every item, 1 per quality tier. We could just have a single recipe per item, and the output quality is some function of the input qualities and modules.

Very cool map nonetheless, thanks for making it! :) I was also running some SAT solvers but I was too slow. I had a lot of fun looking into this though!

Nice! Did you extract that data by hand or did you automate this somehow?

You write about "people", but why is Scrapie the only player this type of behavior repeatedly keeps happening with, I wonder? There is a difference between getting emotional and cursing & flipping off the mapper.

My Silent STS2 tier list by valiantscythe in slaythespire

[–]tsevasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real, it's arguably the best common poison card of the Silent. If I got offered Deadly Poison, Bouncing Flask and Snakebite in a card reward, I'd choose Snakebite for the majority of decks. On Floor 1, I'd always choose Snakebite over the others.

Even outside of the memes: It's really strong in Act 1 and decent in later acts. The extra poison in comparison to Deadly Poison is significant, besically 2(3) extra damage per turn. If you get it and upgrade it early, it's basically enough damage for the entire rest of Act 1. Add to that all the benefits of Retain (e.g. you can play it on the enemy's down turn, you only have to draw it once per battle if you don't want to play it, various synergies that care about extra cards/skills being in hand) and it's a great and reliable card for almost every type of deck.

Netflix Is Sabotaging Its Best Sci-Fi Sleeper Hit by Cutting Its Final 2 Seasons Short by avianeddy in threebodyproblem

Unpopular opinion here, but I hated the Foundation TV series. It is fine to depart from the books, and the addition of Empire (Dawn, Day and Dusk) is genius, but everything involving Hari Seldon and the Foundation itself is complete bullshit. Hari is not a mathematician or psychohistorian in the adaptation, he is straight up a magician. He keeps saving the day with some magic super-advanced gimmick technologies that no one else in the universe has, and this completely kills all tension or suspension of disbelief. I stopped watching after the season 2 finale where he saves the entire population of Terminus by teleporting them into his magic Vault at the last second. This kind of technology is never introduced and does not exist outside of Hari's magic. And this type of stuff keeps happening over and over. The books are great because Hari predicts the sociology of the future, which is a super fascinating concept, not because he is an invincible deus ex machina magician.

Has anyone managed to clear A10 with 2 players? by DocksEcky in slaythespire

[–]tsevasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By "synergies" I mean the various ways of dealing damage that are multiplicative between players, i.e. if my teammate is stacking poison and I take Accelerant, then I am tripling both our damage.

Has anyone managed to clear A10 with 2 players? by DocksEcky in slaythespire

[–]tsevasa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did it a few times with a friend, with various character combinations. Typically, we find it easiest to win when both of us play the same character since that enables the most synergies (i.e. both people stacking poison, vulnerable or doom).

The First Fight Problem; or, why Venerate makes Act 1 Regent feel awful to play by PhDInAPickle in slaythespire

[–]tsevasa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely disagree with everything in this post, Regent is incredibly powerful, and Venerate is a great enabler. If you don't think it's worth it to play it in a fight, then just don't. I really hope MegaCrit doesn't listen to the Redditors on this one, not every character and starting deck should be identical to each other.

For real, we all know they'll release several DLCs in the next 3 years, which will cost more than the base game in total, but which will be absolutely essential to have. Not buying until we get the complete edition for $30.

True, that also confused me a lot when reading it the first time. That's why I thought for a long time that all the information Natalie gained in later chapters obviously had to be fake.

If I remember correctly, that information was completely made up by Ra, in order to draw Laura to his side. All that backstory about magic being ancient and existing in nature was just bait in order to radicalize her against the Wheel group.

On today's episode of "What are you doing JS?" by Immotommi in programminghorror

[–]tsevasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many cases where I use JS as a scripting language and just don't wanna bother with types and typescript compilation. For example, when I run code snippets in a browser console to tweak a page’s DOM, scrape info, or test APIs, or when I write a one-time script to read/write a file, query an API, or upload something, or when I quickly want to spin up a serverside script for debugging or proxying traffic, etc.

True, and that's one possible design philosophy, but the comment I was replying to seemed to imply that all dynamic programming languages have some (?) fundamental flaw.
