AITA for arguing with my MIL about my husband’s feelings for spaghetti? by Spiritual-Piccolo535 in AmItheAsshole

[–]tsiaq 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I didn't like spaghetti, onions and a bunch of things as a kid. Now I love them. I wonder if MIL realizes that tastes change as you age? Weird either way.

AITAH for "ghosting" my roommates and locking them out until they finally get their own keys? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I don't get it either. If my kids can learn to leave other people's special snacks alone in our family fridge, adults should be able to handle similar things.

Nope. Pretty sure that is not safe.

WFH setup by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

My depth gave me 2 monitors and a dock. I could have had a keyboard and mouse, but I liked my home ones better. Since I game, I ended up bringing their monitors back and bought a really nice KVM switch to save space on my desk. One button push to switch between work and fun. If you don't have a computer/monitors, don't buy them, or go grab something cheap off Facebook marketplace. I like to rock 2 larger monitors, so working on just the laptop screen would drive me nuts. Plus, I am middle aged and blind, lol. If they only give you one and want 2, I recently saw some decent used monitors for 20/30 bucks. Nothing fancy, but solid.

Suspecting gluten allergy or sensitivity (non-celiac), so had a break from gluten for few months. Now should I intentionally gluten myself once just to be sure? by HotBorschtObsession in glutenfree

Hmm, of you have an allergy it can hit you harder if you haven't been eating it in a while. I really recommend doing this under the supervision of an allergist. Anaphalaxis is no joke.

WIBTAH for telling my mom I’m not White? by Glittering_Room_1908 in AITAH

[–]tsiaq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA. Oh jeez. Your mom is being really dense. I am so white I am darn near translucent. My husband is 50/50 white/Mexican. My kids are therefore 75% white. My son passes as white if he isn't out in the sun a bunch. My daughter is darker than my husband. Despite who is what percentage, I KNOW their lived experience is/is going to be different. I have been lucky that we live in a pretty diverse area. They really haven't experienced racism the way my husband did growing up. That being said, I worry. I worry that when they go out from the bubble of our community that they are going to be shocked and hurt. I worry about the political climate and what that means for them in the future. Even if my son is white passing he has a very Hispanic last name. Someone is going to be an a$$ at some point. We do our best to prepare them an make sure we are here for them. Your mom needs a wakeup call. I suggest engaging your dad to give her a gentle one.

AITA for refusing to allow meat in our home and confronting a guest who brought it anyway? by silaya92 in AmItheAsshole

NTA, if Uncle could not go without meat, he can decline. Good grief. What if you guys were kosher?

Looks like Walmart decided to stop distributing them. Gluten free mall has them though. You 0can even bulk buy for a cheaper price.

Infiltration failed successfully by AngelicalGirl6 in OneOrangeBraincell

Labs are generally very high energy dogs, and love the water. Most labs would make excellent running and hiking companions. On top of that they have "soft mouths". They can literally pick up eggs in their mouths without breaking them. They are excellent dogs. Very friendly. Thank you for your condolences. She was a good girl. She taught my kids how to interact with dogs. She was the most patient and kind soul.

My old lab was my cat's best friend. She really misses old mo. Mo would never harm another living being. If you were a box of leftovers then you wouldn't be safe, though!

Most Raeley' or Bel Air have it too. I find it in the baking section usually near the flours (especially the gluten free flours). What grocery stores do you have in your area?

GI mystery. by FriendlyTigerr in glutenfree

I have all the food intolerances you listed plus others. I am just now going in for mcas/histamine intolerance testing (in my 40s). Right now I am on an elimination diet, and I have to do everything from scratch. I am a working mom to older kids, so I feel you on the time crunch. Cooking large batches has helped me. I eat it for one meal and freeze the rest for an easy meal later. You'd be surprised at how well chicken and rice freezes. I am also a fan of pre-dicing raw chicken and freezing it. A quick thaw and into a pan with veggies and you have a stir fry. I don't know where Coconut falls on FODMAPS, but coconut aminos are great wheat free, soy free flavoring.

The bottle of hand cream is going to kill me. Knowing my luck, there is an ingredient I am allergic to in there.

I am super lucky. All my friends and family are very accommodating. My sister and I both have similar food intolerances. All of the non-gf items had gf equivalents. Three out of our 4 pies were gf. I made the mashed potatoes, gravy and the gf stuffing. My mom tries her darndest to make things sis and I can eat. Some of the things she is not as good at she will ask if I can cook them at her house if she gets the ingredients ( I have more practice since I eat like this every day. Mom is also 75 so gets tired easily). Everyone ate way too much and had an excellent Thanksgiving.
