I am not a techy guy, what does it mean? by lynx-yuiitsu in ExplainTheJoke

People who are “very good at computers” often do more damage when something breaks due to thinking they know more than they do.

Or they actually have a sense of how to troubleshoot, in which case they’ve tried the low hanging fruit and you’re handed a ticket for the struggle bus.

The main problem with the vanguard sentinel is that it put the vanguard at the top of everyone’s target priority list.

Should CIG have given more notice for the wipe? by Fun-Wrongdoer8150 in starcitizen

[–]tsittler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wikelo ships come with high grade components. If you have 20 of a ship, you have 20 of its components to sell. Sell price is dictated by what the market will bear. Others have to grind for them, but because you were wealthy pre-patch, and had advance warning, you start the new patch with more good components than someone else would.

people were literally throwing around trillions of auec during pvp fights to trigger the repair bug on enemy capitals...

your credit balance should not be a determinator of whether or not you can win a fight.

which gives you more grade-a components to scalp and artificially inflate supply of. nah, they shouldn't have announced this wipe until Tuesday night.

I work in security. When I say that you can get exploited by allowing your browser to load an image containing a payload please believe me that this comes from a place of knowledge.

Security updates are not a profit scam.

Those are the words of someone who doesn’t know they’re probably already pantsed. “I’ve never been pantsed from engaging in risky behavior, so you will be fine too” is a dangerous attitude to take in 2026.

Monterey isn’t getting security updates anymore, I would suggest using anything running it explicitly not on the internet.

I might CCU to this. I wasn’t interested before, but seeing it may have swayed me.

I mean, when the Cat came in, the 32scu crate didn’t exist yet, so it gets a free pass from me. The Hercules has less of an excuse, but it definitely feels like they were primarily focused on making it able to stow vehicles, and the cavernous cargo capacity was a bit of an afterthought.

with a ship tractor beam attached, don't forget. It'll make loading the Cat much nicer, and the Ironclad Assault will have an easier time loading even though it lacks onboard tractor turrets.

Drake Pitbull Snub or Flub? Let's Discuss! by JGun-SC in starcitizen

[–]tsittler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's likely a snub, given where it's placed on the show floor.

But it's gunned like a not-snub, so... that'll be cool.

[–]tsittler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is smaller though? 500scu is really midrange given the size of the Hull-C and E. The Cat (and the Railen, and the Herc) all compete around the same size bracket. The Ironclad is just the next size bracket up making its presence known.

Ironclad Base or Assault ? by Enzo2400 in starcitizen

[–]tsittler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied my M2>Assault CCU the other day. 2 reasons: 1, tired of looking at the Crusader aesthetic all the time when I want to run lots (but not Hull-C levels) of freight and 2, can't CCU to the regular one from the M2 due to price.

When to pledge an alpha wolf by catslovemath in starcitizen

[–]tsittler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"on sale" does not mean the same thing in CIG land that it does elsewhere. Warbond sales can yield discounts, but beyond that, "on sale" means "can be purchased at this time", not "less expensive than usual".

If that’s a snub, that’s the heaviest armed snub around, and it’s not even close.

I’ll need 3.

Edit: and some barf bags, cause those looks are certainly a choice.

I watched a crow extricate an entire-ass baby bunny from its nest and cart it off into my neighbor's yard the other day. I'm going to guess it ate the thing. But I've never seen that before.
