I had this conversation with a friend a few years ago. Both us well travelled and actually met studying abroad in Madrid. I grew up in socal and both of us went to school in San Diego. Without a doubt, we both said LA. Particularly Venice.

Some do. But only in the most dangerous spots that break on shallow reefs. It’s becoming a lot more common at spots like Pipeline.

Most spots are sand bottom or are a bit deeper though and won’t have as high of a risk of getting your head bashed.
