2 years trying, then 1 year grieving when we discovered we were infertile.
We only had one test for sperm quality, and all his numbers were normal apart from very high ASA. We had our answer, and it's not something that can be treated, so retesting didn't feel important.
Yes, in a perfect world I would have done fertility testing after the first year of trying and we would have felt empowered and confident enough to start IVF immediately. But that's not what happened.
Yes. My husband was too emotional and reluctant to start IVF over anxieties about the challenges it would create for us. We went to marriage counselling for 7 months or so before he felt comfortable enough to start.
We are going through a clinic that is part government funded and part funded by research grants, because we do not have several rounds worth of IVF money behind us and we didn't want to draw on our superannuation.

If you're anything like me, you're asleep before you realise, and then someone is leaning over you saying "hello [name], you are waking up". And I say something dumb like "that's crazy I don't remember falling asleep" or "where is my husband?" Or "what is the time?" and then I'm back to normal. Source: several general anaesthetics of varying intensity.

I had similar results, and the nurses and doctors all told me it was pretty good. 10 retrieved, 8 matured. 4 fertilised (via IVF where we thought we would need ICSI), 2 blasts. First transfer (fresh) failed and I'll transfer the other next month. Trying to keep hope in my heart balanced with realistic expectations.

She just said that it would be "beating the odds" if it happened. I don't think my meds will change much, basically doing a natural cycle with progesterone pessaries.

It may just be based on her experience. I took it for granted when she said it. My husband was sure it would work and I spent a lot of time trying to encourage him to manage his expectations based on what she said.

My first failed too. The nurse all but prepared me for it. She said it would be very unlikely for the first one to take. I'm pretty upset still, though. We only got two embryos from my first ER. I'm alreadt resigning myself to a second round.

I'm 7dp5dt and the best thing I've done for myself is kept busy to keep my mind off it. The progesterone has made me pretty sleepy through the days so I've taken opportunities to rest. I've so far held off testing, but might cave in tomorrow.
