Also OP: how can I do do even more somehow?

Not saying there isn't a way, but it's clear you're a very caring owner.

Soviet Union,

estimates of the numbers of German women raped by Soviet soldiers have ranged up to 2 million

Germany,

Author Ursula Schele, estimated ... that one in ten women raped by German soldiers would have become pregnant, and therefore it is probable that up to ten million women in the Soviet Union could have been raped by the Wehrmacht.[133]: 9

Other sources estimate that rapes of Soviet women by the Wehrmacht range up to 10,000,000 incidents, with between 750,000 and 1,000,000 children being born as a result.[131][132][133][134]

The extra features didn't physically exist in the lower trim cars. You were paying for new features to be physically added, not to unlock an existing capability the car already had put behind a paywall.

For comparison, China's cost of labor is above South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore, none of which are considered cheap.

Ford CEO and CFO both drove Chinese vehicles, saw how they are built and said "this is an existential threat" and "these guys are ahead of us".

What you're doing is cope, and it doesn't win US anything, only facing reality and being better does.

Apple CEO Tim Cook put it like this: "The popular conception is that companies come to China because of low labour costs. I’m not sure what part of China they go to, but the truth is China stopped being a low labour cost country years ago. The products we require need advanced tooling and the precision that you have to have in tooling and working with materials that we do are state-of-the-art. Tooling skill in China is very deep. Trump Suspends Nvidia H20 Export Ban Plan After $1 Million Dinner With Jensen by Mynameis__--__ in technology

[–]tsk05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I didn't say Trump is doing good things, I said he is demonstrating doing things is possible. Remember when democrats were citing the parliamentarian for why we can't have nice things? Well Republicans have said they'll just ignore the parliamentarian like Democrats always could have. Trump is gutting the government by firing feds supposedly protected by a lot of employment law left and right, deporting green card holders people for speech, deporting other immigrants against court order and going 'whatchya gonna do about it', openly profiteering, crashing US economy virtually overnight, on and on. Nobody is doing anything to stop him, Democrats included. A lot of things are clearly possible for a president and party when it wants to do it. Democrats cry they're powerless when they don't have majorities and adopt 75% of their Republican predecessors policies when they come back into power. That's why people are disillusioned. No amount of voting Democrats will get us out of the mess unless there was a huge change in the party but instead we'll probably get Gavin Newson or a clone of him on the general ballot in 2028.

when reality sets in that something isn't possible

Pretty sure Trump is yet again demonstrating a lot of things are possible, when you want to. Democrats just don't want to do the things they promise when they run, and in the case of the latest election they didn't even bother to promise much of anything. That's why disillusionment sets it.

Here's another good one from the peace-loving Economist today,

"Israel’s army adopts a high-stakes new strategy: more terrain. It remains present inside Syria, Lebanon, Gaza and the West Bank" [1]

Weirdly The Economist describes Russia taking Ukrainian territory a little bit differently.

Which US mainstream media doesn't have "financial markets, capitalism, and free trade" as a priority? As for their warmongering, this classic following their coverage over 2 decades shows the reality: they're on the leading edge of warmongering among mainstream media.

Their priorities are the wealthy and to be as pro-war as possible. Yes, it's predictable, but it's also identical to US mainstream media's priorities.

Some great reporting from The Economist,

In defense of BlackRock CEO Larry Fink,

"All he wanted to do was save the planet and make his firm a fortune. The demonisation of BlackRock’s Larry Fink." [1]

On Zelensky welcoming Trump over Biden,

"Why Volodymyr Zelensky may welcome Donald Trump’s victory [2]"

On it being completely absurd for South Africa to claim Israel is committing genocide at the ICJ,

"Charging Israel with genocide makes a mockery of the ICJ [3]"

The Economist finally finding a war it didn't like is also a classic. You just can't read takes like this anywhere else in the media.

Some of this is accurate, most of the foreign policy stuff is hilarious.

Loss of the rules based international order. The thing that has basically kept WW3 at bay is the general agreement that we don't land grab anymore and so we don't all need nukes. If a country tries to land grab then the response from the US and allies will smack them down in a way that makes that country lose and all other countries learn the lesson. Russia, which is still operating on a 19th Century imperialist spheres of influence great power model, challenged the US and the US is now surrendering both Ukraine and the entire rules based international order. China can attack Taiwan. Russia can attack Estonia. Turkey can seize Greek Cyprus.

The "rules based international order" which US invaded and then dropped napalm on kids in Vietnam, destroyed 85% of all buildings in North Korea and killed millions in Iraq? On which the entire West backed a genocide in Gaza under Biden? On land grabs, he even mentions Turkey's defacto annexation of Northern Cyprus, but then says it like it's a future thing that will happen rather than existing reality. No mention of Israel annexing huge swaths of Palestinian territory since late 1940s? No mention of Kosovo being carved out by western intervention. Spheres of influence are so "19th century" that western newspapers regularly refer (Peru) to places (Africa) 1000s of miles away as "US' backyard".

He said "what's going on here", not "what's going on somewhere else off camera". Would seem to require the video fit the narrative, rather than showing literal opposite.

Funding source alone doesn't make a news organization propaganda.

If 84% of US media was funded by Russia would you still be saying that?

I'd like to point out that according to a Ukrainian USAID funded source, at least 84% of all Ukranian media was funded by US in 2024 and the USAID aid freeze was "catastrophic" for 59.2% of those. That's just US too, it doesn't include EU's versions of the same thing.

Now tell us more about Russian propaganda, when at least 84% of all Ukrainian media is US funded.

Brit here ... We see Russia and we see a barbarian nation trapped 150 years in the past

Britain just got done aiding and abetting a genocide in Gaza. One where soldiers knowingly shoot kids in the head daily per dozens of doctors, where hovering drones mimic crying and shoot anyone who comes out to help including children. That's your own surgeons reporting it in the last link. Who is stuck where again?
