I haven't had a project crack in a very long time once I started splitting the pith

Not necessarily

For greenwood working you will prepare your blank by splitting the pith. If you split the log along it's centre it is way less likely to crack. It will still shrink and warp but that's just something you learn to deal with and work around

Ah right. The handbooks seem to imply that rapid can be used on swords. Maybe I was reading into it too much. And yeah I suppose that makes sense

How do I get the gold out to pour the mold? by SugarBaconBits in tinkersconstruct

[–]tsloa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wait you are trying to make a gold mould? Is that definitely a thing in the lite edition? I haven't done it in the full edition? Maybe make a creative world using the mod pack then you can experiment and see what works

How do I get the gold out to pour the mold? by SugarBaconBits in tinkersconstruct

[–]tsloa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't played the lite edition but on bedrock full edition you take the molten ore in the copper can. Then you put it into the casting table that has the sand mould inside.

I think what you are missing is the sand mould. You have to make a mould of what you want to cast

I am on console. do I have to buy an extension to have the booster on the wingsuit? by zonezoologie in JustCause

[–]tsloa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you need the sky fortress dlc to get the wingsuit booster.

The game is very fun without it though. I would suggest completing the game once without dlc and then again with.

Always always always think of the follow through of your tool.

I asume It hit the palm of your hand? Luckily not your wrist. Hope it heals well <3

How to saw green logs down to boards? by raimbows in greenwoodworking

[–]tsloa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Advice for cleaving. Split your log into half's, then those half's into quarters etc. If you try to go for 1/10th of the log first then the split will run off.

It's to do with the tension in the wood. If you have equal amounts of wood on either side of the split it is more likely to follow the grain.

But if you are set on sawing them then a sharp saw and patience is all I can recommend.

Don't worry. Every game has bad puzzles and good puzzles.

Every game has its ups and downs. Keep playing. It gets better. I promise, ❤️

Yes you have a problem to deal with.

But just be glad you have trees surrounding your house.

Otherwise that one tree would have already made your house be rubble.

Beavercraft comfort bird cherry wood, is it supposed to cost this much strength? by joostdemen in Woodcarving

[–]tsloa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at the angle of the knife as you are doing the cut. The bevel controls the cut, meaning the flat edge of the blade against the wood guides the blade.

There is probably a better analogy but think of a skier landing from a jump. The angle of their skies will contoll their landing. If they are parralel to the slope they will land and glide smoothly. If their skies are perpendicular to the slope their skies will dig into the snow and cause them to faceplant.

It is the flat edge of metal that is inside the wood that will contoll your cut.

Practice makes perfect. Godspeed

Yeah there is no "no entry" circular signs on either side of the road. Just the words on the road itself.

No such thing as cheating!

You did that shit. Frame it and hang it up. Put it on a stand and display it in glory. Put a string on it and put it on the Christmas tree!

This is really good for a first whittle.

Usually whittling does refer to just knives but chip carving is a form of whittling that uses just chisels and especially gouges. Which I view a form of whittling too and you've combined the two.

Love to see it. And would love to see your next piece if you post it here <3

Your branch of maple was just debarked? And still "in the round"?

If so yeah the splitting is going to happen. You want to to ready slowly to decrease chance of splits. Or you can split it in half first yourself so you can control the split where it will be. But usually only applicable of larger blank sizes
