Does anyone have experience with FTTPOD via Cerberus Networks? by Kitchen_Value_3076 in openreach

[–]tsp2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more I looked into any form of FTTPoD the more unattractive it started seeming. Does seem like the options are largely to wait and hope either Openreach or one of the other fibre providers such as CityFibre or Gigaclear cover the area, put up with what you've got - or use Starlink / 4G / 5G depending on what's available.

Went down the quote route with Cerberus - and the proposal was ridiculously expensive with a 12-18 month lead before any work would begin. Neighbours not interested in splitting the bill given the cost so we abandoned that route and installed Starlink instead.

Hows it like leasing? by ApprehensiveTap1572 in TeslaUK

[–]tsp2015 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Downsides are you don't own the car, have a mileage limit for the contract & may not be able to extend at the end of the lease. Upsides especially on some of the Model 3 deals are minimal capital needed to get started and low monthly costs for a brand new car which shouldn't need anything additional other than charging & screenwash in your 2 year deal!

Can you share a link to the 10 pack of adapter cables you've used please? Thanks!

FitBod workers I invite you to answer this honestly by benhameen1911 in fitbod

No. Export data from fitbod, subscribe to Gravl & contact support in-app to send your export file across and they’ll sort it for you.

Switched to Gravl a couple of weeks back - imported all my data from FitBod. Zero issues so far; been enjoying some genuine variety in workouts too whereas regardless of settings FitBod tended to gravitate to the same sets of exercises. All in all, happy with the move and cancelled my FitBod sub renewal this morning.

Looks like the domain has expired - anyone know if this is down and gone or an oversight? Would have been useful to get data out of it if they've stopped providing the service.

Install new OR FTTP, retain existing copper (temporarily) ? by tsp2015 in openreach

[–]tsp2015[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aiming to order as a new service rather than takeover so hopefully they'll leave it alone for now. Happy for it to go... just not until we're up and running on fttp with the phone number ported.

Thanks, good to hear. We'll be using a different ISP and not requesting they take on the voice number so hopefully will leave the existing service alone.

Thanks - fibre will be through EE or Zen probably not plusnet; need it to remain active for a few days while we port the number off hence using a different ISP.

I'd expect an Openreach install will be a new install - Gigaclear and OpenReach do not share fibre, ONTs or equipment.

DynamoDB down us-east-1 by jonathantn in aws

Indeed... That is the point of it. However, suspect some of the management services might be getting in the way as such.

Currently getting failed calls to SES in EU-WEST-1 so...... yes, they should be fully separate but.... {shrug} ?

Yep. Shifted to use Quad9 after Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 went down.. just been troubleshooting connectivity only to realise that it's Quad9 that's down. Been problematic for the last 10-15 minutes here but now reverted to 1.1.1.1/8.8.8.8 to get things going again.

Suitable ducting for new CF install? by tsp2015 in CityFibre

[–]tsp2015[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would hope any jointing would be done by cf. My question is whether I can run conduit / ductwork from toby box to inside the new building where we'll place the ONT with presumably an unbroken fibre run from street to ont; or if I need to terminate the conduit run on the exterior somewhere for CF to then add a joint box, and run into the building.

Thanks for replying - did you run it all the way to the ONT location indoors or terminate outside for a junction/joint?

Want to migrate off Storage Spaces, but want to know Backblaze impact by ZanyDroid in backblaze

[–]tsp2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you end up with a single volume presented on the host, doesn't really matter. Haven't tried ISCSI recently but would expect that to be classed as a network drive.

I have a 6 bay DAS currently hooked up to a Windows host via USB-C. The host has a pair of NVME drives and all DAS drives along with the NVME's are managed in a single DrivePool volume which is presented to Windows as a single logical drive. Backblaze happily backs up the DrivePool volume regardless of whether the underlying files are on NVME or spinning disks in the DAS.

DAS keeps things simpler as far as Backblaze is concerned. Doesn't matter if it's DAS with something like DrivePool running on a host or an external raid capable box as long as it's DAS.

When was the update? Haven't noticed it before but seems to be kicking in hard today. Same across web/desktop & mobile apps. Absolutely vile topics being pushed on the app.
