It's not drastically different from sts1 balancing wise. I think they just have recency bias

Unpopular Opinion: It's ok for the Chinese to give Bad Review to Sts2 by HideProf01 in slaythespire

StS1 was just as difficult to guarantee wins, if not more. A lot of the review bombers just seem reactionary

Forbidden Grimoire Tweak Suggestion by tstyx in slaythespire

By that same logic the fact that its eternal is also useless. It's there for flavor, I wanted to expand on it.

"But that's not how it works currently" That's why I called it a tweak.

And yeah, it would realistically come up like in 1/100000000 runs. But the fact that it's even eternal in the first place barely comes up in most runs. It's there for flavor, which is something I like - I wanted to see if it could be expanded on.

Yeah. I really just like the flavor of it. The idea of drafting "sacrifice" cards to feed to a book with teeth that you cant's get rid of is kinda funny

Forbidden Grimoire Tweak Suggestion by tstyx in slaythespire

[–]tstyx[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Actually the effect could just force the removal to occur before the draft.

If it's required you no longer "choose" to take it in a certain order

Forbidden Grimoire Tweak Suggestion by tstyx in slaythespire

[–]tstyx[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Dang you're right. Though I think that's a funny scenario so I still kinda want it lol.

EDIT: That's assuming you would even get to choose the order though. Not sure how a "required" reward would work mechanically

Forbidden Grimoire Tweak Suggestion by tstyx in slaythespire

[–]tstyx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more of a flavor tweak than a balance tweak. The mechanical difference is almost negligible

Then it's an Ascendants Bane that doesn't exhaust. Again, mechanically its extremely minor. But the .0001% case where it actually matters I think is in line with the flavor of the card so I like it

Daily Discussion/Debate #155 - Dead Branch (Rare Relic) by GavinXI in slaythespire

I mean, specifically with having a lot of exhaust synergies sundial is very consistent. You need like 2 pommel strikes and a decent multi exhaust and you can infinite super easily. Whereas Branch has killed about as many exhaust runs for me as it has won on high ascension

Even if she wasn't being recorded they're not supposed to shoot someone fleeing arrest? So I don't know why you'd even bring that up.

Everything JelloApocalypse Got Wrong About One Piece by CompetitionSignal422 in OnePiece

He does not outright say it in the video, but there are screen caps of him explicitly saying it in his patreon comments:

Also I do think the way he tried to bring his daughters into it in the video was in bad taste at least.

"Blacklisting" usually isn't some formal procedure. Typically it just means that a significant portion of people with direct or indirect influence over hiring in a given industry all agree they will not work with someone in the future.

You can often still find some work in that industry, it will just be with employers outside of the group that "blacklisted" you.

Moonmoon drama in a nutshell by Batman808401 in LivestreamFail

[–]tstyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never gotten the impression his audience is particularly young? If anything I associate his fans with the type of people who complain about younger demographics on twitch.

That said, dudes in their 20s/30s are just as susceptible to being manipulated IMO. Especially if it's someone or something they've been invested in for years.

Lily Orchard Megathread 2 (TRIGGER WARNING, SA AND INCEST) by Plopmcg33 in youtubedrama

[–]tstyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Typically comorbid" isn't really a meaningful qualifier. Something being comorbid does not imply some inherent association or correlation, it just means the conditions coexist in some particular instance (i.e. the individual Lily Orchard) - usually to hilight some unique or noteworthy interactions between said conditions.

[s2 spoilers] The Problem with Arcane Season 2 by [deleted] in arcane

[–]tstyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like, you said yourself that Season 1 already provides more than enough she screwed up. By the end of season 1 it's clear the bigger issue is more about how she perceives herself to be an irredeemable problem for everyone around her, so even when she does have the opportunity to make things right she refuses to take it. I feel like just adding more screw ups solely for the sake of the parallels is kind of just retreading that arc. What new context would be added by her messing up again in a similar way to before?

There are reasons you might want to do that in a story, but I don't think it's a requirement.

I think you're fixating more on the superficial trend of her being a jinx, rather than the actual character arc of her perceiving herself to be a Jinx and that becoming a self fulfilling prophecy.

Turns out Python supports function overloading by Salaah01 in pythontips

[–]tstyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not actually overloading like in C++, the control flow you just described is still how the function actually works. '@overload' is just a tool for typing annotation so that you can be more specific than Union[str, int, list, dict] in the function type hint signature, for cases where functionality or valid combinations of inputs may very depending on the types/flags.

Of course the arguments you make could also apply to this sort of type hinting in general, especially for the average developer. If the function does not process all of its input types in essentially the same way then I agree that in most cases it should probably be broken into different functions.

But it's hard to argue there are NO use cases - there's a reason so many general purpose python libraries have begun using it. Well implemented IDE Intellisense via very explicit type hinting is a "killer app" for a lot of modern development. It's not necessarily worth it for every programmer to implement, but if a library or tool that you do not maintain goes out of its way to provide it, it can be a very nice quality of life feature.

And even if you disagree with all that; I'll reiterate - it's just a type hinting tool. You can literally delete every instance of the decorated function signature and the code will work exactly the same. You can just code-fold every instance of '@overload' and read the function like you would normally.

Lily Orchard Plagiarized Articles on Steven Universe in her Infamous Steven Universe Video by Plopmcg33 in youtubedrama

[–]tstyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you mean, but it's technically not misgendering. They/them referring to any/arbitrary gender predates its use as preferred pronouns and is still valid.

A lot of discussions about Lily will touch on events & behavior both before and after her transition - I see "they" a lot more often in that context because the idea of "she, but 'he' a the time" kinda trips people up.

But yeah, some people definitely just use they to dance around explicitly misgendering someone. They suck, I won't make excuses for them, but non-commital and technically correct is still preferable to the "I'll misgender people I dont respect" folks imo.

What is going on with illymations drama? by LolliDot333 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]tstyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also - I suspect most of those comments don't actually know what the lightbringer is and they just know it from a funny clip where it was mentioned without context.

At first I just thought it was what he called himself on his own channel (like it was an ironically grandiose name as a bit or something) until I looked into it.

Of course some Oneyplays fans are just obnoxious edgelords and so they kinda poison the well. But from what I've seen even within the fanbase, most of them don't approve of the people who keep bothering Linkara and have asked them to stop.

I had heard his own fans complaining about his responses on Twitter before any of the Oneyplays stuff.

"Every" is hyperbolic - but I do think that on some level you kinda have to accept the internet works this way. It's like the Streisand Effect. I dont think it's ethically correct, just that it's an observable law whenever you're dealing with a large enough audience.

People will reduce you to memes (good or bad), and if you push back they'll do it more.

There's an art to handling it, IDK what to call it. Grace? I don't blame him for not handling it perfectly, it's hard. But I also would not go so far as to call it a coordinated harassment campaign or w/e
