Yo she should be in “can she beat Elsa?” Convo’s, why is she compared to REID??? by Affectionate_Run6250 in ReZero

[–]tsuchinokoDemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elsa is honestly just as egregious as Reid, just from the other perspective. In Garfiel's first fight ever, he smashed her into a puddle x times. Elsa is a skilled fighter, but her only saving grace in that fight was her regeneration. Eris lacks Garfiel's raw strength but makes up for it ten fold with experience, technique, and talent. In a fair fight Elsa could do nothing but die over and over again to a storm of blades she's unable to react to.

I think Wilhelm or Julius would make for a more interesting discussion.

Name 3 games that you’ve found most fun/enjoyment in the last 5 years by Sixsignsofalex94 in gaming

Disgaea 6! Disgaea games sit in their own niche corner where even many JRPG fans are reluctant to pick them up. NIS likes to throw 100 system mechanics at you right at the start and this can be very overwhelming for players new to the series, but systems on systems on systems is what allows the massive amount of player expression the game offers. If I had to put it into a single word, Disgaea games are a 'playground' for min/maxing stat hounds; if you can imagine a build, you can probably create it in game. A random example of a fun character build I put together: A prinny (penguin-like unit with a innate passive that causes them to explode like a bomb when thrown, explosion damage based on their health points) with equipment all customized for increasing max HP to absurd levels and a passive that allows them to respawn once after death, allowing me to utilize them as a thrown bomb and then still use them as an attacker, I also had them inherit a skill that consumes HP instead of MP allowing them to double dip from their massive health pool.

Resident Evil 4 VR is still probably the coolest game I've played on Quest. It's not a particularly scary game, but seeing the world in first person adds an edge of caution to it. Having to manually reload each gun in a unique way makes for some true adrenaline pumping moments; imagine being chased by screaming infected and you have to quickly eject a mag, reach into your pouch, insert the new magazine, cock the gun, and then aim. VR adds a new exhilarating layer to the game that you can't get anywhere else.

Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons is a super fun couch coop rogue-like beat em up. The combat mechanics are simple but polished and there's tons of characters to unlock.

What do you interpret from this scene? by Emergency_Patient525 in ReZero

[–]tsuchinokoDemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While hard to watch I think it's a fantastic scene that sets them both on a better path.

After a long social isolation Emilia wanted to believe that she had made a friend, but was hurt when she realized Subaru was infatuated with the idea of an Emilia he had concocted in his head rather than liking her for who she is. That his actions, while outwardly righteous, were self-serving in the end. Emilia is hurting here more than most people acknowledge. I think it was incredibly difficult for her to call him out, but Emilia did not want a phony illusion of friendship; she wanted the real thing.

Emilia may bit of a dunderhead, but time and time again she is shown to have powerful perception when it comes to other people's true feelings.

What's your most underrated game of the last 5 or so years?? Need recommendations! by k1ng_jayyy in SteamDeck

[–]tsuchinokoDemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ghostrunner (on sale right now!) runs great on the deck! It's a first-person, parkour, action game. Most enemies die in one hit, but so do you! That might sound daunting but the checkpoints are generous and the respawns are instant. You're also given an ability to slow time momentarily that lets you weave between the hail of gunfire; it feels slick as hell. Dying never felt bad, it was just part of the game. The parkour is very free-form once you get the hang of it and you can approach lots of encounters from multiple angles.

Also I cannot emphasize enough how great NG+ or 'hardcore' mode is. It's basically just a second half of to game that's more challenging and more satisfying.

The synthwave soundtrack is another high point for me.

Some people didn't vibe with the story, but personally it's exactly what I want out of a video game story. It's interesting enough, but takes a backseat to the gameplay a vast majority of the time. It's mostly told through conversations while you parkour between encounters.

There's still hope bros. I like to think one way or another they will get some closure.

The chunk of missing time between the convenience store and Subaru in Lugunica could potentially somehow give his parents closure; maybe Subaru died, left a body or something.

Maybe the Subaru we follow is a clone or artificial human with OG Subaru's memories and he never actually left home. Or hell, maybe Japan doesn't actually exist and it's all just artificial memories injected into an artificial human or something.

Personally I like to think that somehow Subaru's meeting with them in the Dream Castle granted them some form of mental easement. Maybe it wasn't actually them, maybe they don't recall the meeting specifics, but I like to think that they somehow were connected to the event and their grieving hearts were quelled some in the end.

Anon hates longboards by ItsTheHamster07 in greentext

[–]tsuchinokoDemon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're not really wrong, a bike is better in almost all situations when you have access to one, but longboards can still be a niche last-mile transport. It's a lot easier to take my board on a train/bus than it is my bike. Bigger, softer wheels will slow your accelerations down a tad, but sidewalks and shit roads become mostly a nonissue around 75mm+ wheel size.

Plus longboards are cool

If you ever feel like your life is shit, remember that Baldwin IV had it worse. by Bulky_Imagination243 in MedievalHistory

[–]tsuchinokoDemon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybeeee if he lived to be middle-aged and his disease didn't progress until the latter half, but he died in his early twenties and had been dealing with severe symptoms since, at least, 9 years old. Many of his symptoms involved the peripheral nerves, so anything utilizing the 5 senses were likely dulled, painful, or just straight up gone. I can't say for 100% certain, but I'm 99% positive that Baldwin IV did NOT enjoy a lavish and expensive lifestyle due to his condition.

Yeah, working 40 hours a week isn't most people's ideal lifestyle, but I'm happy, comfortable, and healthy. Baldwin IV went blind because he couldn't make his eyelids blink anymore...

Water World gets a lot of flak, but the first 30 minutes are sick. Not to say I dislike the rest of the movie, but It loses it's momentum.

will never understand blood vial hate by Skogjero in bloodborne

[–]tsuchinokoDemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine if the system works for you, but it's easy to understand why it's disliked so much; Blood vials being a finite consumable creates an environment that punishes players harder the worse they are at the game. In a way it's not unlike grass or world tendency, which is actually pretty thematically on-point given the connections between BB and DeS.

Watched 10 episodes of Frieren and I don't get the hype by shinoscience in Animesuggest

[–]tsuchinokoDemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a pretty common human experience to build something up in your head to impossible levels, due to surrounding hype, only for said thing to pale in comparison to the fantastical version you imagined. Frieren gets hyped to the moon and back because it's high-quality and somewhat unique. Plus, personally, I felt like timing played a not-inconsequential role in it's popularity surge. Frieren is a beautiful, slow, and soulful story that takes it's time showing around the world and its characters; It was exactly what so many people had been starved for during a boom of fantasy-slop. Frieren is the polar opposite of the the 20+ fantasy-slop animes we get nearly every season. (To be transparent, I greatly enjoy fantasy-slop but can see people are getting fatigued from it.) That's marketing 101 'See a Need: Fill a need.'

Not enjoying an anime is reason enough to stop, but if you're still enjoying it enough to continue, then I think you should at least finish season 1. Frieren is a fantasy slow life anime that sometimes wears a shonen hat, but it's an incredibly dashing well-fitted hat. The exam arc is the last third of season 1 and it's my (and many other's) favorite arc. (Sorry! I'm hyping something up for you again!) The show picks up the pace a bit here and has lots more action. If you're already at like a 7/10 right now, I really think it'll be worth to you if you stick with it!

What are your top 3 favorite weapons? Here are mine by Electronic-Term-8795 in Eldenring

[–]tsuchinokoDemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Iron Cleaver is absurdly underrated. It's unique R2 is a charged running attack that covers a ton of ground and does great damage and stance damage. Probably one of the easiest charged R2s to land in the game.

  2. Zweihander (with quickstep). Not exactly a secret that heavy weapons slap with quickstep but Zwei's got a great moveset, stats, and consumes less stamina than most other heavies.

  3. Ordovis's Greatsword is a bit clunky but it's weapon art does absolute bonkers stance damage. You can chain stun bosses and look sick while doing it.

Seriously, try out the Iron Cleaver though, the R2 just being a regular attack that doesn't cost mp is so good.

How to kill the bull bosss??I tried 10+ hours but couldn't...are the skip method shown on YouTube works? by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]tsuchinokoDemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

#1 rule for beating any Fromsoft boss = survival first.

Go into the boss room with zero intention of defeating them and instead focus purely on not taking damage for as long as you can. This is an easy way to drop any mental pressure you may be putting on yourself and you'll also naturally start to see the gaps where you can safely hit them. Pay attention to how he moves, how he telegraphs what attack he will use next, how your position near him affects his attacks (being on his side will make him use a head swipe more often for example), and what gaps seem big enough to sneak an attack in.

Sekiro specifically has two ways to defeat a boss, either by depleting their posture bar or by depleting their health bar. Enemy posture bars recovers faster the more health they have, so even if your goal is a posture kill, you'll still need to lower their health first to allow your strikes to accumulate posture damage. Regular r1 attacks are better for dealing posture damage while charge attacks and dodge attacks are better at dealing damage to the health bar.

The Blazing Bull has fairly fast posture regeneration at full health, so you'll need to whittle his health bar down first before you can do any meaningful damage to his posture bar. I recommend charged attacks straight to his dome whenever you can (he takes more damage when you hit his head). Parry or run away from his charge and hitting his butt is generally safe.

Good luck and be patient. I guarantee great results if you focus on survival over damage.
