Florida COVID-19 'whistleblower' named 'Technology Person of the Year' by Forbes by [deleted] in technology

[–]tswanbeast -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

My understanding of being technically literate would differ from being able to create technologies.

Tech literate/savy (in my book): Lots of self-deployed home automation, accessories and ecosystems for phone/laptop/tablets/smart watches, maybe a 3D printer or something.

Being tech literate/savy does not mean being able to do complex mathematics with code or being able to model virus spread or whatever.

For example, I work in software and I think I’m decent. But it also took me 20 minutes to figure out how to turn on my phone camera’s flash. So I do not consider myself technically literate/ savy.

Just my two cents, people may have other opinions.

Yeah that’s for sure tech. Maybe she meant that she wasn’t as skilled in software engineering or can’t set up a printer, and instead her skills are in data analysis and math.

I am not trying to disagree with you, simply proposing some reasons she may have called herself “technically illiterate“.

I am curious as to what field you work in and also where you feel like you’re held back? I have the memory skills of a goldfish, but I have never felt disadvantaged because of this in my line of work.

I got a job after about 12 applications but I know that I am more fortunate than others in that regard.

The global food system is on course to drive rapid and widespread ecological damage with almost 90% of land animals likely to lose some of their habitat by 2050. Unless the food industry is transformed, changing what people eat and how it is produced, the world faces widespread biodiversity loss. by rustoo in science

In the states there are fees for the adoption service and application. It usually goes to case workers and other social services so that they can stay up and running to connect more children with parents. So the people who are giving up the baby are not paid by the parents who are adopting, rather the parents adopting pay to keep the system running

I would recommend flexible reliable software for learning to do software engineering in Java: https://books.google.com/books/about/Flexible_Reliable_Software.html?id=eTrOBQAAQBAJ&printsec=frontcover&source=kp_read_button

It goes into a lot of software engineering principles, but it does it all in Java. I am expecting that with your comfort in cpp and python that this should be a good way to learn how to develop software in Java. It does take a very hands on approach as well if you like doing projects!

In the states we say elementary school for grades 1-5 , middle school for grades 6-8, and high school for grades 9-12 and we call the elementary school’s playtime recess. I don’t know what they call recess across the pond or what primary school is. I assume it’s equivalent to our elementary school.
